England vs Netherlands Prediction: These two can deliver goals once again

England have given themselves work to do in their match with the Netherlands at the Uefa European Women's Championship on Wednesday (17:00 BST) after losing to France in their opening Group D fixture. The game is on BBC One but you will also be able to watch it in any of our 1,283 Betfred shops across the UK.
The Lionesses are in need of a result against the Oranje, who cruised past Wales last time out, to keep their Euro hopes alive. Below you will find my England vs Netherlands predictions, accompanied by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
After a largely lethargic display against France, England boss Sarina Wiegman is likely going to be tempted to make a few changes to the Lionesses side, who did not really live up to the label of defending champions.
Hannah Hampton will continue between the sticks, and will be desperate for more help from her defenders after she put in a good shift against France on Saturday.
Niamh Charles is pushing to replace Jess Carter at left-back, while Grace Clinton could be in contention to start in the engine room alongside Keira Walsh, who grabbed the Lionesses' consolation goal against Les Bleues.
Chloe Kelly is an option to freshen up England’s bite in the final third, which may lead to Beth Mead dropping down to the bench. Alessia Russo and Lauren Hemp will be hoping that they keep their places in attack and this is of course a game England cannot afford to lose as defeat will bring their Euros campaign to a premature end.
England vs Netherlands Stats
- Over 3.5 goals has struck in three of the past four meetings between the two sides
- Vivianne Miedema (NED) has three goals in her last two appearances
Netherlands boss Andries Jonker could decide to name an unchanged lineup after he saw his side comfortably beat Wales in their tournament opener.
Shot-stopper Daphne van Domselaar will be targeting back-to-back clean sheets when she faces several of her Arsenal peers, including Russo.
In attack, striker Vivianne Miedema will be aiming to score for a third consecutive game after netting three goals in her last two international appearances - with her strike against Wales marking a century for her country.
Former Arsenal star Danielle van de Donk registered two assists against the Dragons and she is a player who England should be equally as worried about on Wednesday evening.
England ideally need to win this clash to keep their qualification hopes alive, and they have won three of the last four head-to-heads with the Oranje.
They are 8/11 to take the three points, but better value can be had by adding both teams to score to the selection, which has struck in all four of their latest encounters with their Dutch opponents.
This market is priced at 5/2, which has an implied probability of 28.6%. BTTS on its own is available at 4/5.
The draw is marketed at 11/4, which the Netherlands have experienced in one of their previous three fixtures across all competitions. The Euro 2017 champions are 18/5 to win this clash, having beaten the Lionesses twice in the last five meetings.
Over 3.5 goals @ 21/10
This is a high-stakes match for England, and one they were perhaps not anticipating this early at the Euros. There's also a lot riding on it for the Netherlands, too, as a win here would book their place in the knockout stage with a game to spare.
The Oranje delivered a slick opening day performance against Wales and it doesn't seem like much work will be needed ahead of their clash with the Lionesses, despite being a trickier opponent than the Dragons.
Wiegman knows that her side cannot approach this match like they did against France and she's likely to make the appropriate tweaks to make them competitive from the get-go.
I do think the result is a tough one to call, so instead I'm going for goals. I think the two teams can put on a show inside Stadion Letzigrund and I think there is value in backing over 3.5 goals.
Three of the past four head-to-head meetings have surpassed this threshold, with the latest being a 3-2 triumph in England's favour back in December 2023.
In addition, there have been at least four goals scored in four of the Lionesses' last six games heading into Wednesday's contest, while over 3.5 goals has been a winning selection in four of the Netherlands' previous eight appearances.

Vivianne Miedema anytime goalscorer @ 21/10
A player who can play a starring role in helping my first selection come to fruition is Miedema. The Netherlands striker is arguably the best forward at the Euros and she is in great form coming into this crunch fixture.
The Manchester City star has three goals in her last two outings for the Oranje, with her latest marking 100 for her country, and there is no doubt she will be hungry for more.
I correctly tipped her to find the net against Wales (Wales vs Netherlands Prediction), and while there is a step up in quality in opponents this time around, I am confident she will get on the scoresheet again.
England's defence looked very shaky at times against France on matchday one, and if there are any signs of vulnerability on Wednesday, Miedema will capitalise.
