West Brom vs Preston

West Bromwich Albion head into the final day of the Championship season knowing that a win will guarantee their place in the play-offs. They entertain Preston North End at The Hawthorns on Saturday (12:30) looking to end their three-game losing streak.

Carlos Corberan's men are under pressure as Hull City are hot on their tail and if the Tigers beat Plymouth Argyle and Albion were to lose, Liam Rosenior's team will take their place in the play-offs. I've laid out my West Brom vs Preston predictions below, including team news and match odds.

West Brom vs Preston Betting Tips

  • West Brom to win to nil @ 6/5
  • Jed Wallace anytime goalscorer @ 11/5

Match Odds

West Brom are priced at 4/9 to get the win here, giving them an implied probability of 69.2%. Preston are 11/2 to dent Albion's play-off hopes, which gives them a 15.4% chance of victory. The draw can be backed at 11/4 (26.7%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 1/1 and over 2.5 goals is 10/11. Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has scored 11 goals in the league this season and is valued at 6/4 to score anytime on Saturday. Preston's Will Keane has netted 13 times this year and he can be backed at 4/1 to score anytime at The Hawthorns.

Team News

Albion's only major injury concern is striker Daryl Dike, who is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Preston are expecting to be without first-team stars Ben Whiteman, Brad Potts and Ali McCann, with the trio having missed the Lilywhites' last two outings against Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers.

West Brom to win to nil @ 6/5

The Baggies' recent form is a concern but I do believe they can bounce back when they need to against Preston. They are at home and The Hawthorns crowd will be pumped up to cheer their team over the line in the hunt for the play-offs.

Also, if you thought Albion were on a bad run, Preston are on a current run of four defeats without scoring a single goal in the process. West Brom haven't been one to blow teams away this year but I think they can win this contest while keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Preston's race has long been run and they have nothing but pride to play for in the West Midlands. Ryan Lowe and his players will have one eye on the summer to start preparing for the next campaign, while Albion need to ensure that their hard work this year does not go to waste.

I'm backing the Baggies to win this game to nil which will ultimately secure their place in the play-offs.

West Brom to win to nil at 6/5 Jed Wallace anytime goalscorer @ 11/5

A player I fancy to step up when Albion need someone to put any supporter nerves to rest is Jed Wallace. The attacker has been a leader for the Baggies this year and he has already provided six goals in the league this term. Two of them have come in his last four appearances against Leicester and Stoke City.

As the game gets underway at The Hawthorns, there will be some nerves among the crowd and Albion will need to get on top early to give themselves the best chance of getting the job done. I'm expecting Wallace to thrive under this sort of pressure and notch his seventh goal of the season on what should be a dramatic final day in the second tier.
