Toulouse vs Montpellier

Friday night provides a mid-table clash from Ligue 1 as southern outfits Toulouse and Montpellier go head-to-head at the Stadium de Toulouse (6pm). Both teams find themselves in good form heading into this encounter as they have done enough in recent weeks to make sure they won’t go through the rigours of a nail-biting end to the season in a relegation dogfight.

Toulouse and Montpellier are both on five-game unbeaten runs heading into Friday night’s contest and they might well cancel each other out with little on the line here. Here are my Toulouse vs Montpellier predictions.

Toulouse vs Montpellier Betting Tips

  • Draw @ 11/4
  • Thijs Dallinga anytime goalscorer @ 7/5

Team News

Toulouse boss Carles Martínez Novell has the luxury of a fully fit squad to choose from and is unlikely to make too many changes, if any, from the side that earned a 2-1 win at Lorient last time out.

As for the visitors, manager Michel Der Zakarian has more to consider, with Lucas Mincarelli and Arnaud Nordin both suspended for the trip west.

Theo Sainte-Luce is the only injury concern for Montpellier and Friday’s game should come too soon for the 25-year-old defender.

Match Odds

Toulouse are the 23/20 favourites to claim all three points on home soil, while Montpellier are 21/10 to make the two-and-a-half-hour drive back east with the spoils.

A draw on the night is available at 11/4, while under 2.5 total goals in the game is currently 11/10.

Draw @ 11/4

With little on the line for both these clubs after some good results in recent weeks, both teams might well settle for a draw in this one.

Toulouse have been draw specialists at home of late, with stalemates in their last two home games at Stadium de Toulouse against Strasbourg and Marseille.

Montpellier themselves have drawn two of their last three games and all signs are pointing to another stalemate between these sides on Friday night.

Draw at 11/4 Thijs Dallinga anytime goalscorer @ 7/5

The standout goal threat for Toulouse this season is Dutch forward Thijs Dallinga, whp is certainly a player worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market. The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign with 12 Ligue 1 goals to his name and the former Excelsior star has come on leaps and bounds this season.

Toulouse have relied heavily on the Netherlands international for goals, with Swiss midfielder Vincent Sierro the second-highest goalscorer with six. Dallinga scored last time out for Toulouse in the victory against Lorient and he’s available at 9/2 to open the scoring against Montpellier this week.

For the more cautious approach, Dallinga to find the back of the net in the anytime goalscorer market still offers good value at 7/5  and is the selection here.
