Colombia have sealed their place in the Copa America knockout stage thanks to their 3-0 win over Costa Rica last time out. This took their tally to six points and they head into matchday three knowing their place is secure.
Brazil only need a point to join them but after beating Paraguay 4-1 last time out, they will feel as though they will get the job done in California. After having to settle for a draw with Costa Rica on matchday one, Selecao may have thought a similar scenario was unfolding in their second game.
They squandered a lot of good chances, including a missed penalty in the opening half hour, before finding their rhythm and recording their biggest victory since September.
Colombia may take their foot off the gas and rest some key figures for the knockout stage but they should still make it a competitive bout for Brazil. Should Brazil lose here, they will be reliant on Costa Rica failing to beat Paraguay, but should Los Ticos win, they would need a six-goal swing in their favour.

Costa Rica have a big mountain to climb. Not only do they need to beat the already-eliminated Paraguay, but they also need Brazil to lose, while overcoming the six-goal deficit that separates them from Selecao.
Their draw with Brazil in matchday one raised a few eyebrows and it should give them the confidence to beat Paraguay, and perhaps even comfortably, which will greatly boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
The 3-0 defeat to Colombia was a setback and has put them in this trying situation but it is not over yet. They will be hoping that Colombia put out a strong side to face Brazil, but they have to focus on themselves first and foremost.
