They may be without star man Lionel Messi but Inter Miami are in good form heading into Thursday's trip to Charlotte having won their last three matches in MLS and they currently boast a two-point lead at the top of the Eastern Conference.

They have built momentum that should serve them well in North Carolina and they have still only lost just three of their 21 matches so far. Inter Miami will of course be focusing on themselves but they will also keep a watchful eye on FC Cincinnati, who are breathing down their necks.

Cincinnati are two points behind the league leaders and after topping the table last year, they are Inter Miami's biggest threat in the 2024 season. They head to D.C. United looking to get into a rhythm of their own. They won last time out against FC Dallas but before that they were beaten by New England.

It's tight at the top but after Cincinnati there is a seven-point gap from New York Red Bulls in third.

Over in the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake will be looking to move back to the top of the table after recently being pushed down to third behind Los Angeles FC and LA Galaxy.

They find themselves three points behind the two California-based clubs but a win could see them move back to top spot, depending on the margin of victory. They have suffered a recent blip but they have shown already this term that they are a force to be reckoned with when they are on-song.

Elsewhere, the full roster in the League of Ireland Premier Division are in action as Shelbourne continue to pave the way at the summit. They are on 46 points, two ahead of Derry City, who are their biggest threat at the moment. The Shels have won three on the bounce so they are in form as they head to bottom-of-the-table Drogheda United.

The hosts haven't won since May 6 but they did take a point off Shelbourne in their previous encounter which took place in that very same month. They have lost four of their last five, however, and they are facing a Shels side that have continued to improve since the reverse fixture.

Chasers Derry are also going well at the moment. They have won four in a row as they head to Sligo Rovers on Thursday. They are making sure that they are ready and waiting if Shelbourne do slip-up, so that they can pounce and move to the top of the table.
