Scotland take on Northern Ireland in an international friendly at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening (19:45). Steve Clarke's side were comfortably beaten 4-0 by the Netherlands on Friday, and they will look for a response here to help prepare them for the summer's Euros in Germany.

Northern Ireland are unbeaten in their last two matches having beaten Denmark and drawn to Romania. However, we do feel they will face a tough test in Glasgow against the Scots. Here are our Scotland vs Northern Ireland predictions which feature match odds and team news.

Scotland vs Northern Ireland Betting Tips

  • Scotland to win to nil @ 5/4
  • Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 9/4

Match Odds

Scotland are the 3/5 favourites to win this match. Northern Ireland can be backed at 11/2 to cause an upset, while the draw is on offer at 13/5. Both teams to score can be found at the generous price of 5/4 - that being because BTTS has landed in just two of Northern Ireland's last 11 matches. Over 2.5 goals is valued at 6/5.

Team News

After Lawrence Shankland missed an excellent opportunity to scored last time out, Clarke might consider dropping the Hearts captain for either Che Adams or Lyndon Dykes. The Scotland boss is expected to make changes and veteran goalkeeper Craig Gordon could be in line to earn his 75th cap for The Tartan Army.

Centre-backs Grant Hanley and Scott McKenna withdrew from the squad due to injury but the Scots have plenty of cover in that area as Ryan Porteous, John Souttar, Jack Hendry, Liam Cooper and Kieran Tierney are all available to fill those spots.

Jonny Evans is the most notable absentee for the visitors and his experience and leadership will be greatly missed.

Scotland to win to nil @ 5/4

After losing 4-0 last time out, Scotland will look to bounce back immediately against Northern Ireland, whom they should be beating on paper. Clarke's men will be more than aware that at this stage of the season they are fighting for places in the final Euro 2024 squad in June.

A packed-out crowd is expected at Hampden for this game and there is sure to be an electric atmosphere to go with it. What this group of Scottish players have achieved in the last few years has reignited the nation's passion for international football.

In the build-up to another major tournament appearance, the fans are going to be right behind their players despite this just being a friendly. Scotland's quality far outweighs that of their opponents and victory should be routine for them here.

Scotland to win to nil at 5/4

Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 9/4

In the last 18 months, Scotland have found a fairly frequent source of goals from an unlikely player in Scott McTominay. The Manchester United midfielder has found a habit of scoring for his country and even scored a brace against Spain a year ago.

He seems to be given a fair bit of freedom to flaunt his talent for Scotland and whatever information Clarke has been giving him has been paying off. McTominay is very much one of the first names on the team sheet for The Tartan Army and whether he plays in defence or midfield he will always offer his side a goal threat. We think he is worth backing to grab one in this one.
