The split has been decided, and the Scottish Premiership now moves into its final five rounds. Sunday’s doubleheader begins in Paisley, where St Mirren enjoys the home advantage over Rangers.

The home team holds hopes of finishing in the top four, but their dreams are fading fast following a woeful run of form. St Mirren is winless in four, losing three and drawing the spare. Have the Buddies run their race this season?

Rangers make the short trip to Paisley for another must-win game in the Premiership title race.

Philippe Clement’s side beat Hearts at Hampden on Sunday to reach the final of the Scottish Cup and keep alive their plans of landing a treble. But the visitors are winless in three and have managed just one victory in their last five league starts.

St Mirren started the week in fifth place with their season stats showing 12 wins, seven draws, and 14 defeats, scoring 38 goals but conceding 43. They have Dundee breathing down their necks for fifth, but how much fight do they have left?

Having secured a money-spinning top-six finish, we could see St Mirren roll towards the finish line, keeping one eye firmly on the summer break. Do you fancy a rare win for St Mirren over Rangers? Back the locals at 7/1 with Betfred.

Rangers did ever so well to drag themselves back into the title race after looking out of it as early as November.

After closing the gap on Celtic and even briefly passing them to lead the table, their form collapsed, and they’ve taken just five of the last 15 points available. Could that late wobble cost Clement his dream first season in Glasgow? You can back an away win at 4/11 or try your luck on the draw at 4/1.

Rangers win to nil @ 5/4

It has been extremely difficult to predict the outcome of Rangers games recently, and their dip in form took most followers of Scottish football by surprise.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for the title challengers and followers of our previews, but we must stick to the basics and follow the stats in good times and bad. Keep looking in the right places, and you’ll end the season with more winners than losers.

With that in mind, we take a chance on Rangers to win this game without conceding a goal.

That would’ve been the correct approach in each of the last four meetings of these teams, including two at this venue. Gers also kept a clean sheet in their previous two games after losing three goals in Dingwall. St Mirren failed to find the net in their last outing.

James Tavernier to score @ 13/8

After backing Rangers to win to nil in Paisley, we aim for a second bet at slightly higher odds when supporting captain James Tavernier to get on the scoresheet.

The Englishman has come in for criticism of late following some painfully poor performances, including slack defending and some wasteful free-kicks and corners. But he has a good reputation in this fixture.

Tavernier scored a double at this venue when Rangers won 3-0 here back in October, including the opening goal on 30 minutes. He’ll be in charge of free-kicks and penalties on Sunday and knows he must improve.

Back the captain to stand and help deliver a massive three points for his men that would move them level with Celtic, at least for a few hours.
