Club Bruges will welcome Fiorentina to the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday evening (17:45) as they look to overturn a one-goal deficit following their 3-2 defeat in Florence last Thursday.

La Viola are looking to make amends for their defeat in the Europa Conference League final to West Ham last season and will be keen to make light work of things in Belgium.

The first leg was an exciting affair and the goals could flow again in the second leg of this semi-final. Below you can find my Club Bruges vs Fiorentina prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Club Bruges vs Fiorentina Prediction

  • Over 2.5 goals @ 5/6
  • Thiago to score first @ 11/2

Team News

Raphael Onyedika did not help his side’s chances in Florence as he was sent off in the 61st minute, meaning he will miss this clash alongside left-back Bjorn Meijer who was forced off against Antwerp at the weekend.

Simon Mignolet deputised in goal for that match, but preferred keeper Nordin Jackers is expected to recover from a slight knock in time for this second leg.

Riccardo Sottil is Fiorentina’s sole absentee, with Jonathon Ikone the likeliest replacement on the left flank.

Match Odds

Home advantage is expected to work in Club Bruges’ favour as they are 6/4 favourites - or a 40% chance - for this match, with Fiorentina 9/5 and the draw 12/5.

It seems likely both teams will score, with that outcome available at 8/11, with our main tip of over 2.5 goals priced up at a more appealing 10/11.

Thiago is the 11/2 favourite to open the scoring, while Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez is 13/2 in the same market.

Over 2.5 goals @ 5/6

The goals flowed in the first leg, with the sides sharing five, and it was no surprise that Fiorentina notched three of those. Even before Onyedika’s untimely red card, La Viola had been dominating proceedings and they racked up 31 shots in Bruges last week.

The Belgian side’s defence is clearly a weakness of theirs, with Onyedika sure to be a big miss in the middle of the park too. Fiorentina’s frontline includes some great talent, including Nico Gonzalez and Andrea Belotti, so they will be confident of notching some goals in Belgium.

10 of Club Bruges' 15 Europa Conference League games this season, as well as their last five in all competitions, have featured three or more goals and plenty more net-bulging action should be expected on Wednesday.

Fiorentina’s last four matches have seen over 2.5 goals land as a winning bet, and it could be worth backing the same selection in this second leg.

Over 2.5 goals at 5-6

Thiago to score first @ 11/2

While Fiorentina are likely to do the majority of the scoring in Belgium, given their 31-shot haul in the first leg, Club Bruges could get the ball rolling at the Jan Breydel Stadium as they chase down the tie.

Their star striker Thiago has netted five goals in nine Conference League games this term, including one in the first leg, and he rates a decent bet to notch first on Wednesday.

Club Bruges will likely employ a gung-ho approach as they try to amend the one-goal deficit, suggesting a fast start is likely on their own patch, with their main man, who has 18 league goals this season, the likeliest candidate to open the scoring.

Thiago to score first at 11-2
