With almost a year to go until the 2026 World Cup, co-hosts the United States are stepping up their preparations for the biggest international event.

Next up for Mauricio Pochettino’s men is a clash with an entertaining Turkey team, who are looking to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 2002.

The USA are 11 places higher than their opponents in the rankings but head into this clash in poor form and with speculation surrounding their manager’s future.

The USA, who have won the last two meetings between the two sides, are available at 7/5 to claim the win at Rentschler Field.

Turkey are 6/4 to win what will be their third international fixture of 2025, while the draw can be backed at 21/10.

Team news

Former Tottenham boss Pochettino has been forced into one change to his goalkeeping options ahead of the friendly double-header against Turkey and Switzerland.

Columbus Crew shot-stopper Patrick Schulte misses out through injury and has been replaced by Chris Brady of the Chicago Fire.

Fulham defender Anthonee Robinson is a notable absentee, but Pochettino does have five English-based players in his squad.

Crystal Palace duo Chris Richards and Matt Turner, Coventry’s Haji Wright, Leeds midfielder Brenden Aaronsson and Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams are all part of the 27-man party.

Meanwhile, Turkey are expected to include captain Hakan Calhanoglu in their starting line-up, despite playing in last weekend’s Champions League final.

There is no place in the squad for Bournemouth forward Enes Unal, while veteran Fenerbahce striker Cenk Tosun was also omitted by Montella.

Turkey to win @ 6/4

Italian Montella led Turkey to a last-eight spot at the 2024 European Championships and they head into this summer having lost just one of their last seven internationals.

Back-to-back wins over Hungary in the Nations League play-offs in March have seen them move up to 27th in the world rankings.

Their attacking style during the Euros won them many fans, but Montella has also shored things up at the back, with four clean sheets in those last seven matches.

This looks like a good time to play a United States team that has lost their last two and has won just five of their last 12 matches.

The back-to-back March defeats also came on home soil, with the USMNT going down 0-1 against Panama and then suffering a 1-2 defeat to Canada.

Arda Guler to score at anytime @ 3/1

Inter ace Calhanoglu takes a lot of the focus and attention in the Turkish squad, but Arda Guler is the future of his nation’s team.

The 20-year-old showed at the Euros why Real Madrid paid 20 million euros for his services, with his magical left foot helping him pull the strings in the final third.

Guler already has four goals in 19 senior appearances for his country, with the latest strike coming in their recent 0-3 win in Hungary.
