Sunday’s Tennis Tips: Super Sinner can continue dominance over De Minaur

The ATP Finals get underway on Sunday with each member of Group A looking to get their tournament off to the perfect start with victory in Turin. World number four Daniil Medvedev and number six Taylor Fritz get the competition started at 13:00 BST, with this being the first meeting between the two in an ATP event since the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati in 2022.
The late match on Sunday sees world number one Jannik Sinner get his campaign underway when he faces world number eight Alex De Minaur, who enters the tournament on the back of Novak Djokovic pulling out through injury.

Match Betting - Taylor Fritz to win @ 11/10
American Taylor Fritz has enjoyed a strong 2024 and the 27-year-old could make a winning start in Turin against Medvedev, who has largely struggled against elite opponents in recent tournaments.
While Fritz was beaten in his last ATP meeting with Medvedev 7-6 6-3, 27-year-old Fritz has bested the Russian in each of their last two encounters, in the Diriyah Tennis Cup in 2022 and the World Tennis League in 2023.
Medvedevreached the quarter-final stages of three of the four majors in 2024 but he has not found life easy when facing players ranked in the world’s top 10, losing to Jannik Sinner twice and world number three Carlos Alcaraz in recent tournament appearances.
The Russian may need a few games to get going and that may be enough for Fritz to claim the advantage and get what could be a crucial opening-day victory.

Match Betting - Jannik Sinner to win 2-0 @ 2/5
Sinner has been the dominant force in world tennis this year, losing just six of his 71 matches in 2024, and the Italian star should have little trouble in defeating Alex de Minaur on Sunday, given his impressive record over the Australian.
Sinner has won all seven of his previous ATP meetings with the 25-year-old, including in the final of the ATP 500 Rotterdam where the 23-year-old came away with a straight-sets victory, 7-5 6-4.
De Minaur’s record against Sinner will not give the Australian much hope of success, with “Demon” taking just one set off the world number one since their first ever meeting, in the final of the Next Gen ATP Finals in 2019.
With two Grand Slam titles this year, Sinner will be the heavy favourite to claim the trophy in this competition and a relatively straightforward opening-day success could well be on the cards.
