Roland garros french open tennis

Last year's French Open Men's Singles champion Carlos Alcaraz will be out to defend his crown at this year's tournament, which starts this Sunday, May 25, and concludes with the final on June 18. Alcaraz came from 2-1 down to beat Alexander Zverev over five sets in last year's final, and the Spaniard is fancied to retain his crown at Roland Garros.

Below are my Men's French Open 2025 predictions, supported by the latest outright odds.

Men's French Open 2025 Betting Tips

  • Carlos Alcaraz - Winner @ 11/10
  • Jack Draper - Each-way Winner (1/2, 2 places) @ 33/1

Carlos Alcaraz - Winner @ 11/10

Four-time major champion Alcaraz didn't fly out of the traps this year, but the Spaniard, who turned 22 years old earlier this month, has been steadily improving, and it's on clay courts where he is at his most powerful.

He holds a 15-1 record on clay this season, winning the Monte-Carlo Masters and Italian Open either side of a Barcelona Open final defeat to Holger Rune. In Rome, Alcaraz thrashed World No.1 Sinner, who at 2/1 is considered the Spaniard's greatest threat in France, in straight sets (7-6, 6-1).

The draw for the French Open was made earlier this week, and both players are on opposite sides of the draw following Alcaraz's move back into second on the ATP rankings. As a result, Alcaraz and Sinner can't face off until the final in Paris next month, which should help the former's chances of making the final two and defending his title.

Sinner has won only one of his 19 career titles on clay, in Umag, Croatia, in 2022, when he beat Alcaraz in the final, while 'Carlito' became the third man since the advent of the ATP in 1990 to win every significant clay title on offer with his victory at the Italian Open earlier this month. 'The Fox' may be 41-2 on the ATP Tour since last August, but both of his defeats have come at the hands of Alcaraz, while the Italian's recent anti-doping suspension left him without a competitive fixture for nearly four months.

He returned by making the final of the Italian Open, willed on by a home crowd, but he could find things tougher in France, where Alcaraz is expected to take advantage again and pick up successive titles.

Jack Draper - Each-way Winner (1/2, 2 places) @ 33/1

British No.1 Jack Draper could be an interesting each-way shout in France.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season, winning his first ATP Masters 100 event at Indian Wells in March. He beat Alcaraz over three sets (6-1, 0-6, 6-4) in the semi-finals before easing to a straight-sets success against Rune (6-2, 6-2) in the final.

Draper then made the Madrid Open final earlier this month, losing in three sets to Casper Ruud (5-7, 6-3, 4-6), and reached the quarter-finals of the Italian Open, where Alcaraz exacted his revenge in straight sets (4-6, 4-6).

The Briton's impressive clay-court swing makes his 33/1 outright price with Betfred an attractive one, particularly if you are opting for an each-way bet.

Granted, the World No.5 has been dealt a tough draw at Roland Garros, where he is still seeking a first win, albeit he's only featured twice before. He begins the tournament with a match against World No.68 Mattia Bellucci on Sunday, and could face Sinner in the quarter-finals.

However, Sinner's lack of match practice and Draper's recent upturn in form on clay does offer the Brit hope in his quest to reach the final four and, potentially, the final.
