A new winner of the French Open will be crowned at Roland Garros on Sunday and, as per the final betting, Carlos Alcaraz is a firm favourite to beat Alexander Zverev to the Roland Garros crown.

It will be a surprise if the brilliant young Spaniard blows his chance to join his illustrious compatriots Rafael Nadal, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya and Albert Costa in lifting the Musketeers’ Trophy.

French Open Men's Singles Final Odds

Carlos Alcaraz -1.5 sets handicap @ 8/11

Alcaraz did superbly well to deny Sinner in five sets in the semi-finals, but the 21-year-old from Murcia has for the first time found consistency on the Paris clay this year.

His triumph over Melbourne Park hero Sinner followed three excellent wins over Sebastian Korda, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Monte Carlo Masters champion Stefanos Tsitsipas. And in his last three matches Alcaraz’s first-serve percentage points won realised decent figures of 75, 74 and 74.

The taller Zverev, who is more powerful and experienced than Carlitos, posted a first-serve win percentage of 86 in his semi-final victory over Casper Ruud. But while the German is doing little wrong on court and could theoretically pose problems for Alcaraz in the final, it should be noted that Ruud was unwell during the last two and a half sets of their match so it may pay not to overrate the form.

After ousting Nadal in round one, Zverev went on to defeat David Goffin,Tallon Griekspoor, Holger Rune and Alex de Minaur before defeating Ruud.

However, those were all perfectly winnable matches and, if anything, it was a surprise to see the 27-year-old Rome Masters champion require five sets to dismiss Griekspoor and Rune.

A date with Alcaraz looks another level up for Zverev and it’s a climb that may prove beyond the Hamburg native, so back the favourite to win before the outsider wins two sets.

Alcaraz -1.5 at 8-11

Set Betting - Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-0 @ 2/1

Zverev may do well to win one set, let alone two, against the brilliant Alcaraz so an interest in Juan Carlos Ferrero’s pupil to triumph in straight sets could be prudent.

Of the top players Alcaraz has faced at the French Open this year, only Sinner has won a set against him - the Italian ace took his opponent the distance - and Carlitos has won four of his six matches in Paris in double-quick time.

Regardless of Zverev’s wellbeing, he doesn’t appear to possess Sinner’s class and there's a chance that it may be one-way traffic for Alcaraz.
