Tennis Betting Tips: Back a winner in all-American Australian Open quarter-final

The four remaining Australian Open quarter-finals take place at Melbourne Park on Wednesday, and the cream has risen to the top with all the big seeds still standing firm in their bid for glory. All eyes will be on back-to-back Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner as he puts his title defence on the line against Ben Shelton, while 10-time winner Novak Djokovic meets Sinner's fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti.

The top four seeds from the women’s bottom half have all lived up to their billing, and world number two Iga Swiatek gets set to do battle with former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, while there is an all-American clash as Jessica Pegula locks horns with Amanda Anisimova. Jessica Pegula to beat Amanda Anisimova @ 1/1

This promises to be a belter between two top-six players, and the American duo will be full of belief, having each eased into the last eight without dropping a set.

However, the form of Pegula's run to the quarter-final looks that bit stronger as she has been broken only four times during the tournament, and she stamped her authority in a commanding 6-4, 6-3 win against defending champion Madison Keys in round four.

Pegula has won all three of her WTA Tour meetings with Anisimova, who may struggle to follow up last season's runner-up efforts at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Novak Djokovic to win 3-1 vs Lorenzo Musetti @ 13/5

Djokovic has been unable to add to his tally of 24 Grand Slam titles since the 2023 US Open, with the 38-year-old evidently a declining force and regularly running out of steam against fresher legs in the back-end of Majors.

However, he has made the semi-final on his last six trips to Melbourne, and he would have been delighted to receive a bye in round four following Jakub Mensik's withdrawal.

That should ensure that the record 10-time Australian Open champion has plenty left to give, and he has won nine of his 10 meetings with Musetti, with his only defeat coming on clay.

The legendary Serb has won all four hard-court meetings with Musetti, and he eased past the Italian 6-4, 7-6, 6-4 in their semi-final showdown at Wimbledon in 2024.

Musetti brushed aside Taylor Fritz 3-0 in round four, but he needed five sets to see off Tomas Machac prior to that and may struggle to rise to the challenge of Djokovic, who won 2-1 when they squared off in the Athens title decider in November.

Jannik Sinner to win 3-0 vs Ben Shelton @ 8/11

Shelton has been unable to lay a glove on Sinner during their personal series, having lost their last eight meetings in straight sets, which includes last season's Australian Open semi-final, as well as this stage of Wimbledon.

Sinner is edging closer to a sixth straight Grand Slam final, and it is hard to see a way in which the American can contain him.

Shelton's serve will be under serious pressure from the off, and Sinner, having had 19 aces and hit 46 winners in a 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 win over Luciano Darderi in the fourth round, should cruise to victory.
