England vs Wales Prediction: Relentless Red Rose to dominate Welsh visitors

Friday 6th February 2026, 11:11am

Last March's 68-14 win in Cardiff was victory number four in England's current run of 11 in a row and they are expected to outclass Wales again when the pair meet at Twickenham on Saturday. The Welsh have won only two of their last 23 Test matches, both against Japan.

This will be Steve Tandy's first Six Nations game in charge of Wales, but after losing three out of four games in the autumn, Saturday's visitors to Twickenham could find themselves in more trouble. Read on for my England vs Wales predictions.

Team News

Hooker Jamie George will captain England, with lock Maro Itoje on the bench after recently having some time away from the game due to personal reasons.

Alex Coles and Ollie Chessum are the second row pairing, while Coles' Northampton colleagues, Fraser Dingwall and Tommy Freeman, are partnered in the centres.

Steve Borthwick has again selected a six-two split on the bench, with Tom Curry and Henry Pollock both ready to come on in the second half.

Louis Rees-Zammit starts for Wales at full-back, while flanker Josh Macleod and centre Eddie James return after missing out in the autumn due to injury.

Hooker captain Dewi Lake captains the side with Jac Morgan injured and Wales also have six forwards on the bench, including tighthead prop Tomas Francis, who is expected to make his first Test appearance since 2023.

England vs Wales Odds

England are the massive 1/100 favourites, with the draw 28/1 and Wales 16/1 to beat the Red Rose at Twickenham for the first time since 2015.

Freeman has scored tries in England's last six Six Nations contests and is 10/11 to go over again after being named at outside centre, while for Wales, Rees-Zammit and Josh Adams are 5/2.

England -31 @ 6/5

Last year's 54-point final-day victory in Cardiff was the culmination of an encouraging campaign for England, and they have continued to improve both their play and their squad depth.

Several players came through in the summer while others were away representing the British & Irish Lions and a first Six Nations title since 2020 is a realistic goal.

The Red Rose have to visit both Edinburgh and Paris but can build confidence by winning their opener in style.

A winning margin akin to last year is unlikely, but England should still dominate Saturday's opponents and rack up a decent score.

Henry Pollock to score a try anytime @ 6/4

Pollock truly announced himself with his two-try cameo off the bench in last March's win in Cardiff and Borthwick has again named him among the replacements.

The back-rower excelled when introduced for the final 30 minutes or so in the autumn, including scoring a try against Australia.

Borthwick usually introduces his so-called 'Pom Squad' of substitutes with half an hour or so to play, meaning Pollock will get plenty of minutes and a fourth international try could be his.
