Team News

Saracens have been hit by a double blow ahead of Saturday’s game with news Alex Lozowski and Fraser Balmain will be out for the remainder of the season.

Both players have required operations and will now have to watch from the sidelines as Sarries battle for a play-off place this season.

Expect director of rugby Mark McCall to make changes after his side’s heavy defeat at the hands of Toulon across the Channel in the European Champions Cup.

As for Gloucester, half-back pairing Tomos Williams and Gareth Anscombe will hope to continue in the nine and 10 jerseys respectively.

Anscombe has been dealing with a minor hamstring issue in recent weeks, while Williams had an enforced rest ahead of Gloucester’s heavy defeat at Bath in the Champions Cup last time out.

Match Odds

Saracens are the firm favourites at 1/9 for the victory on Saturday, while Gloucester are 6/1 to head back to the West Country on the back of a surprise win. A draw at The Stoop on Saturday is currently available at 25/1..

Saracens -18 handicap @ 11/10

Gloucester have tended to struggle when they play at the StoneX Stadium, with the Cherry & Whites last winning there back in January 2022. It’s been a tough hunting ground for them, and recent form doesn’t suggest that’s about to change any time soon.

Saracens, on the other hand, have only lost one home game in the Premiership this season, and it’s no surprise they are heavy favourites to claim the spoils on Saturday.

The last time these sides met was in the Premiership early this season, with Sarries running out 35-26 winners at Kingsholm back in September. That result underlined the gulf in quality between the two squads right now.

Saracens will feel like they have a point to prove this weekend after they were unceremoniously dumped out of the European Champions Cup 72-42 at Toulon last time out. Expect a response from a team packed with internationals with pride to restore.

Gloucester will also have had their confidence shaken after their Champions Cup defeat at rivals Bath, losing that game 61-26 at The Recreation Ground. Defensive frailties were brutally exposed, and questions remain over their resilience.

Given the Cherry & Whites’ poor record against Saracens, losing all of their last three meetings with the London outfit in the Premiership, going with the hosts with the -18 handicap looks well worth consideration for this one at StoneX Stadium.
