Team News

Gloucester boss George Skivington has made several changes from the side that lost out 22-15 at the Exeter Chiefs last weekend.

Jack Singleton has been brought in at hooker alongside props Mayco Vivas and Kirill Gotovtsev.

Arthur Clark replaces Mati Alemanno in the second row, where he’s joined by fellow lock Freddie Thomas in the engine room.

The back row is unchanged, with Jack Clement, Ruan Ackermann and skipper Lewis Ludlow starting, while Tomos Williams and Gareth Anscombe continue in the half-backs.

Scotland centre Chris Harris joins Seb Atkinson in the heart of the backline, while the back three is made up of Josh Hathaway, Max Llewellyn and Santi Carreras.

As for Sale, boss Alex Sanderson has made just the two changes to his side that hammered Bristol Bears 38-0 last time out.

There’s a big change at fly-half, with Tom Curtis set for his first Premiership start in place of the absent George Ford.

Curtis is joined by Raffi Quirke in the half-backs, while the rest of the backline is made up of Luke James, Rob du Preez, Tom O’Flaherty, Tom Roebuck and Joe Carpenter.

In the front row Bevan Rodd, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Asher Opoku-Fordjour are joined by locks Ernst van Rhyn and Jonny Hill.

Ben Curry captains the side, where he’s joined in the back row alongside twin brother Tom Curry and JL du Preez at number eight.

Gloucester vs Sale Odds

Gloucester are 5/6 favourites for the win this weekend, giving the hosts an implied probability of 54.5%, while Sale Sharks are 21/20 to head back up north with the victory. A draw on Saturday at Kingsholm is available at 18/1.

Gloucester -4 handicap @ 6/5

Ignoring results in the Premiership Rugby Cup, Gloucester have won their last three home games with three impressive defensive performances.

Beating Newcastle 36-7 in the Premiership and Edinburgh 15-10 in the European Challenge Cup, the Cherry & Whites won 14-0 in their last home game against Harlequins in the league.

Those defensive displays will delight Skivington and his side look to be good value to not only beat Sale this weekend but cover the handicap too.

Sale have won just one away game in the Premiership this season and even lost on the road at strugglers Newcastle Falcons in November.

The absence of Ford at No.10 is another blow for the visitors, who might well leave the West Country with nothing to show for their efforts.
