Team News

Starting with Bristol, the hosts have gone with Max Lahiff, Harry Thacker and Jimmy Halliwell in the front row, with locks James Dun and Joe Owen in behind.

Skipper Steven Luatua starts in a back row that includes Luka Ivanishvili and Benjamin Grondona, while Sam Wolstenholme and Sam Worsley start in the half-backs.

Jack Bates and Benjamin Elizalde start in the centres, while the Bears go with a back three of Gabriel Ibitoye, Noah Heward and Rich Lane.

As for Gloucester, the visitors have gone with a front row of Dian Bleuler, Seb Blake and Afo Fasogbon, with locks Matias Alemanno and Hugh Bokenham in the engine room.

Will Trenholm, Harry Taylor and Jack Clement complete the pack, while Mikey Austin and Charlie Atkinson combine in the half-backs.

Max Knight and Josiah Edwards Giraud pair up in the centres, while the Cherry & Whites have a back three of Ollie Thorley, Josh Hathaway and George Barton.

Bristol vs Gloucester Odds

Bristol Bears are the favourites to come out on top on home turf at 2/9, while Gloucester are 16/5 to make the 40-mile trip back with the victory. A draw at Ashton Gate is available at 18/1.

Bristol -9.5 handicap @ 5/6

Considering the line-ups announced for the Saturday games in the Prem Rugby Cup, these are two relatively strong XVs named for this West Country derby at Ashton Gate.

The Bears have a host of international stars away ahead of the 2026 Six Nations, but there looks to be enough quality in this side to take down Gloucester on Sunday.

A number of players are returning at an important stage of the season for boss Pat Lam and having star winger Ibitoye back after an injury lay-off is a massive boost for the Bears.

Gloucester will sorely miss scrum-half and skipper Tomos Williams due to international duty, but they have gone with a strong side for this trip to Ashton Gate.

Bristol will be looking for revenge after their 44-41 defeat the last time they hosts Gloucester in the Gallagher Prem and it looks like the capable of getting the victory they desire on Sunday.

Gloucester are on a miserable run of form, with seven straight defeats going into this trip to Bristol.

With their returning stars eager to impress after injury lay-offs, the Bears are backed to win and cover the handicap against this porous Gloucester defence this weekend.
