Rabbitohs vs Sharks Prediction: Trindall try a value pick even if Sharks succumb

Two of the great names of the NRL Premiership collide at Accor Stadium on Saturday when the South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the Cronulla Sharks (17:30 local, 08:30 BST, Sky Sports Action).
Just two points separate the clubs on the ladder after nine rounds, making this a potentially pivotal fixture as both look to kick on in the mid-season standings. My Rabbitohs vs Sharks predictions are below with full team news and the latest match odds.
Rabbitohs vs Sharks Betting Tips
*odds correct at time of publishing
Despite being at home and boasting one win more than the Sharks so far, the Bunnies are not favoured to win the match on Saturday.
Souths are 7/5 to collect the points, implying a 41.7% probability, while Cronulla are 8/13 favourites. The draw in normal time is 16/1, while the Sharks give up 3.5 points in the two-way handicap.
Team News
There are a number of changes to the Rabbitohs line-up, with Jack Wighton missing out with a broken arm.
Ed Kosi comes in for the former Canberra Raider, with Campbell Graham switching to the centres.
Jye Gray is back after a shoulder problem, so Matt Dufty is among their substitute options, while Jamie Humphreys is dropped to the bench so that Ashton Ward can start in the halves.
Keaon Koloamatangi is shifted to the middle, with Euan Aitken stepping up to the second row and Tevita Tatola coming off the bench.
A less exhaustive update from Cronulla, with Craig Fitzgibbon sticking with the 17 which mauled the Tigers last week.
Hohepa Puru and Braden Hamlin-Uele are the two names among the matchday 19 who didn’t feature on field in the 52-10 win.
Rabbitohs by 1-12 @ 13/5
While the extremely slow start to last week’s defeat in Newcastle and the loss of Wighton with a broken arm are undoubtedly reasons to question the Rabbitohs, I don’t see them as underdogs in this one.
Wayne Bennett will surely have them firing this week following on from that 23-minute 22-0 deficit a week ago, and in the Sharks they are facing a true Jekyll and Hyde outfit.
It was a sensational showing from Fitzgibbon’s troops against the Tigers, but we all know they can be capable of those types of performances. That has never been in doubt.
It’s the consistency that forever seems to be lacking with the Sharks, and that’s what could trip them up again here.
Nicho Hynes can be one of the best players in the sport on his day, but that doesn’t come around often enough. And I think the Bunnies get on top for long enough to earn a narrow win as a result, with that 13/5 looking huge in the circumstances.

Braydon Trindall Anytime Tryscorer @ 9/4
There ought to be plenty of points in this encounter, with a combined 142 points having been scored in these two’s Round 9 fixtures.
For the Sharks, Braydon Trindall can be a key performer. And although I also like the look of Will Kennedy (6/4) and KL Iro (10/11) for anytime tries, the extra value attached to Trindall sure whets the appetite.
