Horse Racing Odds

18:19 Ellis Park (Race 2) – Ship Ship Hooray (5) @ SP

All of these runners have a chance. Ship Ship Hooray (5) gets class relief after two decent efforts against better competition in Indiana after a long absence. He won his only start at Ellis Park before and by five lengths.

The four-year-old has speed but has got a stalking gear in him. That may be crucial to his chances if the likes of Guardian (1) are gunned for the lead. That runner failed to last home in a starter event at Churchill running first time for trainer David Jacobson. The last time he ran in a claimer, he romped by ten lengths.

Gallo de Fuego (3) and Mitty's Griddy (4) may keep the rail drawn runner honest up front. The first named has ran well in defeat in three races since winning at Gulfstream. Mitty's Griddy (4) has the faster back races. He runs first time for a trainer no stranger to success with recent acquisitions. Forty Love (6) also competes for a new trainer but a less successful one. He can’t be dismissed along with the freshened up Drewvictory (2).

18:19 Ellis Park - Winner

19:16 Ellis Park (Race 4) – Sky Warrior (6) @ SP

Of those that have raced before, Bardstown Road (7) has shown the best form. He improved off his debut to run third in a maiden at Churchill last month. That was sprinting on the dirt.

There is enough in his pedigree to suggest he will handle a mile on the turf. It will be interesting if he takes the most money or a runner like Castiglione (3). The debutant was quite an expensive sales purchase. He represents trainer Cherie DeVaux who has a fine record with first-time starters.

Trainer Mark Casse’s pair are both second time starters. Play It Again (11) showed the more on debut. He found five furlongs totally inadequate at Churchill in May but was staying on late. Today’s distance should see him in a better light.

Jockey Alex Concepcion gets of his stablemate Sky Warrior (6) to ride him. That is a negative but may help the stable’s apparent B string’s price. His debut sprinting on the dirt was probably purely for experience. His dam was stakes runner over a mile or more on the turf. He’s a potential upsetter getting more ground and switching to the grass.

Perfect Mo (2) and Agate (4) both look the types to improve from their career debuts. The first named has worked well since his unveiling. Agate (4) looked too green to do himself justice first time out.

19:16 Ellis Park - Winner
