US Horse Racing Tips: Paul picks out two on Thursday

Our Stateside expert, Paul Quigley, is back with his Thursday US Horse Racing Tips, looking for winners at Belmont at the Big A and Horseshoe Indianapolis.

You will find his two selections below.

20:10 Belmont at The Big A (Race 5) - Snappy Comeback (2) @ SP

There is a nice combination of solid stakes form and potential in this Grade 3. Snow Face Princess (6) has achieved the most so far. She won a state at Saratoga before running second in a near million dollar event at Kentucky Downs. Believe in Magic (9) finished only a half a length behind her last time. She has a versatile running style and cutting back half a furlong in distance is likely to suit her. 

Snow Face Princess (6) is not the only runner with a stakes victory to her name in this line up. The unbeaten Just Philtored (3) has won back to back state restricted events at Colonial Downs. Royal Testament (8) was a clear-cut winner of a stake in a fast time there last month. The pair are likely to add to the speed mix. That may suit Snappy Comeback (2). She outfinished stablemate Catalonia (10) in a conditions event at Kentucky Downs last month. That race was marginally quicker than the stake Snow Face Princess (6) ran second in on the same card. She gets the vote.       

There are five last time out maiden winners in here. Should've (4) and Final Accord (5), Bella Knows (12) and Y'allreadyforthis (11) did it on their career debuts. Should've (4) and Final Accord (5) ran the faster but Bella Knows (12) and Y'allreadyforthis (11) overcame all sorts of adversity. The quartet may have a lot better to come.

Oscar's Encore (1) is a possible upsetter worth considering. She won sprinting on debut at Saratoga. In her only subsequent start, she failed to last home over a mile.

22:18 Horseshoe Indianapolis (Race 7) - Gas Alley (8) @ SP

Unless there are key scratches, this looks a competitive race. Jailhouse Justice (1), Jeopardy Theory (3) and Berlone (5) filled the places in a similar event to this one last month. The trio all look players. That said, that race was swiftly run from the bell and it suited them. The early fractions may not be as fast here. Maybe Berlone (5) who had the better back form is one who may come up best this time.

Gas Alley (8) hasn’t got a great draw but may be the answer. Following some fine efforts in open company at Colonial Downs, he was made odds on for his local debut. He lost a tight one to Revs Medal (7) but his rider may have been over-confident. The three year old has speed but did break his maiden from just off the pace.   

Revs Medal (7) has to be respected as he beat the selection with a career best effort last time. So too has Mackadoo (2). He is on a hat-trick after back to back allowance victories. His last run was a return to the level of form that saw him run a head second in a stake in July. He will rightfully have his supporters.     

Justhappytobehere (9) was a winner at the level below this one last time out in June.
