Sunland Park Race 3 (20:17) – Friday Nite Fancy (6) @ SP
The leader in the clubhouse is Tucum Kari (7). The last time she ran for sale, she was a good second at Zia Park in November. Since then, she has struggled in a pair of tougher maidens. She’s speedy so cutting back to this short distance shouldn’t be an issue. Her former stablemate Friday Nite Fancy (6) may be the answer here. She has ran pretty well in all her four career starts. On form, she has a chance. The main ‘in’ with her is running first time for leading trainer Dick Cappellucci. He claimed her off a decent fourth over five-and-a-half furlongs last month. Her new handler has a super record with first time acquisitions so a big step forward is very likely.
On My Mark (10) is another running first time for a new trainer. She was placed in five straight races last winter and spring. The four-year-old hasn’t raced since April but has been working really well in preparation for her comeback. Her handler ended a dry spell with a winner on Monday. She’s one for the shortlist along with Fauzeta's Flame (2). She may be all the better for a recent comeback spin. Based on her runs in deeper maidens in the autumn, she can go well on the class drop.
First-time starter Taco Five (3) won’t have to be any great shakes on debut. Tres Amore (8) hasn’t shown much in two starts so far. She goes for a very sharp owner/trainer combo. A market move for her may be significant.

Sunland Park Race 5 (21:09) – Dance Man (10) @ SP
This may be less competitive than the numbers suggest. The most likely winners are Third Street (4) and Dance Man (10). Half a length separated the pair when they filled the places in a slightly higher priced claimer on February 8. Third Street (4) is a pacey type and may make the lead on his own. He has really found his form since joining his current trainer. The five-year-old may be tough to reel in. Maybe second time back after an absence his old rival Dance Man (10) can do it. That was his first start since October so may improve a little.
A couple in this field are dangers if fit after absences. Malibu Rain (7) rattled up a hat-trick in the autumn. His trainer started to hit form after a quiet spell last week. Ted (3) has been away much longer. He has form in better races but over further. Bettor Trip Nick (1) has no fitness worries. He ran third in a starter event here earlier this month. That was over five furlongs. He has two victories over today’s distance. The rail drawn runner is a player on the class drop.
Jeeps Stride (8) has a better drawn than last time. He is a place chance.

Sunland Park Race 8 (22:32) – Chandon (7) @ SP
A couple of the top trainers at this meet are double-handed. Todd Fincher is one of them. His Power Connection (1) gets class relief for her return. She was a decent fourth in a stake at Albuquerque in her last start in September. This is a more winnable spot. Her stablemate Tiz the Spirit (10) has been freshened up. She ran a close second to a filly on a roll in her last start at Zia Park in December. That is probably the best line of form of form in here.
Native Charmer (11) is closely matched with Tiz the Spirit (10) from that run at Zia. She has since joined in form trainer Justin Evans. There is a chance this speedster may be loose on the lead. She is one for the shortlist for sure. Her stablemate Divine Wind (8) has a chance off her clear-cut maiden win in December. She was used up in a speed duel in a deep race on her return.
Chandon (7) may be the play at the odds here. She took an age to break her maiden but has ran well against winners since. Off a couple of second places in claimers at Churchill, she can go well here. She didn’t stay the extended mile at Sam Houston last time. With all the speed in here, she may get a good set up from off the pace.
Ferrari Money (9) comes off a couple of fine efforts at Turf Paradise. She was second best to Native Charmer (11) in a maiden at Zia Park in November. Like a few of these, she has to prove her stamina stepping up to six-and-a-half furlongs.
