21:45 Fair Grounds - Money Game @ SP
Based on potential or speed figures achieved, all of these have to be considered. Even Delta Downs shipper Brite Outlook (7) has ran fast enough to win a race of this nature. Crucial to the outcome is how much pace will be on. The two possible speeds are Tarantino (1) and Bedard (5). If one runner is taken back, the other runner will be even more dangerous. The pair filled the minor places at today’s level over course and distance last month.
Tarantino (1) has back class with graded stakes places to his name. The fact that his connections are prepared to lose him for $50,000 again suggests he may not be that horse any more. He still can win this. So can his old rival Bedard (5) who has less miles on the clock.
As well as Bedard (5), Brad Cox has the unbeaten Money Game (3) entered. He beat a stakes runner on debut at Oaklawn in March. Five weeks later, he won there at the level below today’s. He had a look of a horse learning on the job, finding more when challenged in the straight. There must have been some physical issue as career start number three is now 10 months later. His trainer is one of the best around when it comes to winning with long term returnees. With that in mind, it be worth chancing his fitness.
Orizzonte (4) went very close on his comeback on the turf. His dirt form is just as good. He out-ran a field at Churchill on his last start as a four-year-old back in May. Pace to chase down seems ideal for him. Less so Energize (6). He ran too bad to be true in a stake at Oaklawn in January. His last victory at Churchill produced the highest speed figure in this one up. The Godolphin owned colt could rebound at a decent price.
All bar one of this field are proven over today’s distance. The one exception is Attache (2). He was claimed off a fine effort over six furlongs at The Fair Grounds in January. A month later, he ran well for new trainer Mike Maker. His new handler has a lot of success improving older horses when they try to do something completely new. He is the wildcard in here under Ben Curtis.

23:07 Turf Paradise - Logical Myth @ SP
This is an intriguing race. Hurricane Cloud (7) will be one of the favourites if not the clear market leader. He was up against it last time when fourth due to the talent of his rivals and the slow pace up front. A fortnight or so earlier, he was successful at today’s level when there was more speed to chase down. He came come some way back to run down The Black Strat (1) by a nose.
He’s definitely one of the more likely winners on the class drop. There are alternatives including his old rival The Black Strat (1). There are runners in here who could run with him early but the chances are he is loose on the lead.
Logical Myth (2) is a veteran who still retains plenty of ability. He edged out Afjan (5) in a claimer on the dirt last month. The ten year old was claimed back by Robertino Diodoro who lost him the race before. Interestingly his new trainer returns him to the turf. He is a seven-time winner on the grass so there is no reason to think he won’t run his race. He may have the tactical speed to sit close enough behind The Black Strat (1) and get first run on Hurricane Cloud (7).
Baie Longue (4) came back to form when third in a similar race to this one earlier this month. He is not far off the best of these based on that run and a victory in January. He’s an easier read than Lemon Meringue (6) and Dagger Ranch (8). Both have been running well on the dirt.
