Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Picks: Ted Noffey is odds-on for a reason

The biggest race of Juvenile Day at the Breeders' Cup is always the Breeders' Cup Juvenile itself. Will we get any hints as to who might be in contention for the 2026 edition of the Kentucky Derby?
This is Race 9 on the card and has a UK start time of 23:45. Our US Racing correspondent Paul Quigley isn't looking too deep at the racecard for his pick in this one...
Ted Noffey (8) will be banker material for US punters and many over here. Todd Pletcher’s colt is perfect in three career starts. He won The Hopeful (G1) at Saratoga by eight lengths.
Although not as impressive in The Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland next time, he faced a talented colt in Blackout Time (2). The grey has an adaptable running style and is proven over today’s distance.
It is interesting that Ken McPeek the trainer of Blackout Time (2). wants another crack at him. If he gets more speed to chase down, he could markedly close the near three lengths he was beaten by him. He’s a definite use in a reversed forecast with the favourite.
The runner most likely to break up the one-two from Keeneland is Brant (7). The $3,000,000 sales purchase looked a star in the making when slamming Civil Liberty (5) on debut. He was less impressive when winning The Del Mar Futurity (G1) next time. His trainer Bob Baffert opted to skip the traditional Santa Anita race prep over this distance. He is still a fascinating proposition although he has to prove his stamina.
In the absence of Brant (7) it was Intrepido (1) who ground out in The American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita.
