Breeders’ Cup Distaff Picks: Tough to overlook short-price favourite

It is time for the ladies to step up as Race 7 on Saturday is the Breeders' Cup Distaff. The likes of Monomoy Girl, Malathaat and Thorpedo Anna have won in recent years but who will step up and be the 2025 champion?
Paul Quigley can't see past the favourite, who has clearly been pointed to this one by her trainer Bob Baffert, having only raced the once since late May...
With the recent retirement of last year's winner Thorpedo Anna, Seismic Beauty (8) is likely to be a clear-cut favourite. She's a progressive four-year-old who is on a four timer. She set legitimate early fractions when winning a Grade 1 locally in August. Her trainer Bob Baffert has kept her fresh for this.
Seismic Beauty (8) is likely to be gunned for the early lead. If she is softened up by getting taken on Nitrogen (1) and Dorth Vader (12) are the likely beneficiaries. Nitrogen (1) has been switched from turf racing to fine effect. She was only a head away of winning back to back Grade 1's in New York and Kentucky. Dorth Vader (12) almost turned over odds on Thorpedo Anna in her last race. She may go off a bigger price than she should.
Clicquot (3) has a bit to find with the best of these. She is improving, winning The Cotillion (G1) at Parx last time. Maybe she takes another step forward.
Note: This is a Betfred Extra Place Race where we are paying out four places rather than three on each-way bets.
