21:36 Saratoga (Race 7) - Regalton @ SP
Many chances here although Love Cervere (11) looks the gal to beat. She is unbeaten in turf sprints, winning back to back stakes at Aqueduct and latterly Woodbine. Her last two victories were over six and six and a half furlongs. In theory, cutting back to today’s distance could be an issue. There is a ton of speed in here to chase down so she should get a good set up.
There are a trio in here who also ran big last time out of state. Proud Starlet (7) was an all the way winner in a fast time at Del Mar last month. She is likely to have competition for the early lead, mainly from Luna Louska (9).
She made a hat-trick of victories in a stake in Indiana last month. If any filly in here is capable of wiring this field, it is her. The likes of Roja (8) will have to avoid a costly speed duel with her. She made all in a stake at Monmouth last time but has sat just off the pace and won before.
Trainer George Weaver has a quartet of interesting runners entered. Silsbee (5) and Regalton (2) come off maiden wins second time out. The first named was the more impressive. Regalton (2) is likely to be the bigger price.
Her victory came over course and distance. The quick turnaround may be an issue but it’s not like her trainer didn’t have other options in this race. The play at the likely odds.
A trio of these ran in a stake over course and distance last month. Laurice (10) and Abientot (12) filled the places. The pair could make the podium again. Make Haste (3) folded badly after being softened up in a speed duel. She was made favourite after a fine victory second time Stateside. Flavien Prat may try a little more patient tactics with her.
Pop Idol (1) rounded out her juvenile year with back to back wins including a stake at Woodbine. She lacks a race this term. Her trainer’s super record with lay off runners and some nice work outs make her an interesting longshot.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
