US Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, July 10
*odds will be posted closer to race time
20:27 Saratoga (Race 5) - Heredia (4) @ SP
Heredia (4) was a Group 3 winner for Richard Hannon at Sandown in the autumn of 2023. She missed all of 2024 and wasn’t seen out again until May of this year. There she made her Stateside debut in a Grade 3 at Aqueduct. She shaped well, looking a likely winner until probably lack of fitness took its toll. If she improves off that run, she is the likely winner.
There is a chance Heredia (4) may be overbet. If that is the case, there are at least four or five of these who could be value alternatives. Edict (5) finished ahead of her in that Grade 3 at Aqueduct. It may pay to ignore her subsequent run. She was in deep in a Grade 1 and the bog like conditions probably didn’t suit her. She’s one alternative. So too is Deep Satin (3). She made a fine comeback at Keeneland but regressed a little second time back in a Grade 3 at Churchill.
Two gals can go close if fit on their first starts of 2025. Alluring Angel (1) doesn’t seem to stand much racing and is proven fresh. Fellow comebacker Les Reys (2) won a productive stake on her Stateside debut. She was pace compromised on her only subsequent start.
In Our Time (8) is a talented frontrunner. She ran well in a quartet of stakes at Gulfstream. On Command (6) could stop her getting an easy lead judging by the fractions she set sprinting in May.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
22:10 Saratoga (Race 8) - Movin' On Up (4) @ SP
With form in better races, Movin' On Up (4) is clearly the gal to beat on the class drop. She comes off back to back places in graded events at Churchill. The four year old won her last two starts prior to that. That includes a stakes event at Gulfstream. She has tactical speed so Irad Ortiz is likely to have her in a good position no matter how fast or slow they go up front.
Fun With Flags (5) goes for top turf trainer Chad Bown and Flavien Prat takes the ride. That’s the best thing going for the former French trained filly. Her three US starts have been only fair at best. The fact her connections give her another chance in a stake is a hint of better to come. Ozara (1) has better recent form. She made a fine comeback when third in a Grade 3 at Monmouth. The rail drawn runner tried to close off a slow pace there. She’s a solid place chance.
The best chance of upsetting Movin' On Up (4) may come from Charlottesapproval (7). She is a progressive four year old who won a conditions event at Woodbine on her comeback. The turn of foot she showed there makes her dangerous. Poca Mucha (3) is more exposed. She won this race last year. That was rained off and ran on a sloppy main track. She has form on the turf.
Spinning Colors (8) is a talented New York bred. She made it three wins from four starts at Saratoga when beating state breds last month. John Velazquez was able to go slow on the front end. She faded badly when behind Movin' On Up (4) when going a lot faster in March. The presence of Do Gooder (2) may force his hand early on.
Storm Miami (6) will be making a quick turnaround after a below par run in a stake in Indiana on Saturday. Her victory here prior to that is contending form.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
