21:35 Saratoga (Race 7) - Bellezza @ SP

Trainer Miguel Clement is triple handed here. He may have the front two in the market in Bellezza (6) and La Mehana (1). Like many in this line up, the pair started their careers in Europe. Bellezza (6) got the better of the stablemates in a Grade 3 when she making her Stateside debut in May. She lost nothing in defeat when third in a Grade 1 here last month since. The distance was a bit too short and the company a tougher than this field. Her victory in May was over 11 furlongs but ran well over further when tried by Ger Lyons.

La Mehana (1) has been a fixture in these long distance stakes for some time now. She franked the form of the race Bellezza (6) won by winning an allowance optional claimer at Aqueduct last month. There she beat No Show Sammy Jo (2) by a length with Dazzlin' Dictator (7), Immensitude (8), Sacaya (3) and Lady Firefoot (4) further adrift.

Long Ago (5) is an interesting pace play. The former French trained mare outran her odds in a stake at Churchill, running first time for her trainer. She’s not guaranteed to be suited by stepping up to a mile-and-a-half. If Irad Ortiz can have her going within herself on the front, she may last a long time.

21:35 Saratoga - Winner Bellezza

21:42 Ellis Park (Race 9) - Tres Soles @ SP

Lots of questions here. The biggest one may be how much ability Bold Discovery (8) retains. He won a Group 3 at Leopardstown for Jessie Harrington in May 2024. He’s only had one run Stateside, showing little in a deep race at Keeneland. Now he makes his five year old debut being offered for sale for $40,000. He is a tough read but is the one to fear at his best.

Keen Cat (10) has been in sharp form for some time now. He’s not been of the exacta in five straight starts. Last month at Churchill, he won a similar race to this one. That and all his recent form has come on dirt. He is a two-time winner on turf so the surface switch is not an issue. The six year old is probably the safest play in here but will be likely be priced up accordingly.

Risk Manager (12) ran second just ahead of Azoi (9) in a high-end claimer at Churchill last month. His run prior to that is a contending one. He missed by half a length in a similar race to this one in Indiana. He gets the services of Tyler Gaffalione who won with five of his six mounts here last weekend. Interestingly, he finished behind Tres Soles (2) at The Fair Grounds earlier in the year.

He has been gelded after a couple of modest runs on the dirt at Churchill. He is better on turf, winning at this level on the grass in March. The five year old may be a price off his current form.

21:42 Ellis Park - Winner Tres Soles

Odds correct at time of publishing.
