*odds will be posted closer to race time

19:46 Monmouth Park (Race 5) - Fond of You (3) @ SP

All bar one of these two year old fillies are trying a mile for the first time. The exception is Dakota Cam (5). She broke her maiden over today’s distance at Delaware last month. The speed figure she earned was modest but at least we know she stays. She looks vulnerable to the likely second time out improvers. There are a couple in here. The vote goes to Fond of You (3). The Godolphin owned filly wired a field of maidens at Colonial Downs on debut. She is bred to come into her own over a trip. Her dam was a stakes winner going a distance of ground.

Dazzling Dame (1) showed just as much promise as the selection first time out. She was a wide margin winner of a maiden at Laurel. Added ground should suit. A rail is often a positive over today’s distance here, especially for a juvenile. She’s not the only filly that has upside. Spitfire (2) graduated second time out at Saratoga. She did it well too. Slick Merlin (6) has achieved more in her short career. She ran second in a stake here last month. That was on turf but her five length debut score came on the dirt.

Mine Strike (4) overcame greenness to win on debut at Gulfstream. She ran too bad to be true in a deep stake next time.

19:46 Monmouth Park - Winner Fond Of You

Odds correct at time of publishing.

21:12 Ellis Park - (Race 8) Niki Nine Doors (4) @ SP

Two gals are likely to separate themselves from the rest at the top of the market. Of that pair, The Godolphin owned Dala (5) is the likely improver. She has two of her three career starts. Her only loss came when she blew the break. Based on her last run, she looks capable of winning at today’s level. She hasn’t raced since June. She’s proven fresh and has been working well.

Slight preference here is for the other runner likely to take money here. Niki Nine Doors (4) ran well on dirt last month but her best form has come on turf. She ran big in two local starts last summer, winning a stake in one of them. The four year old may have won a similar race to this at Churchill in June but for being in tight in the straight. She gets the services of jockey Tyler Gaffalione who has been on fire at this meet.

Jill Jitterbug (8) is a little interesting cutting back from a mile. In her last in a turf sprint, she was far from disgraced in a much deeper race than this one. She is an easier read than Secret Statement (1) and Sultry Lass (9) who have little or no form in turf sprints. The rail drawn runner has ran over a mile on grass without looking like a true stayer. Sultry Lass (9) has better form, winning on her last start here. That was on dirt. Her two runs on the grass were early in her career. If her trainer lets her take her chances, she is worth considering.

21:12 Ellis Park - Winner Niki Nine Doors

Odds correct at time of publishing.

21:20 Woodbine (Race 7) - Outlaw Kid (4) @ SP

Outlaw Kid (4) is likely to be the clear-cut favourite to win this race for the third straight time. He beat Forester's Fortune (8) by two lengths in this race last year. Judging by his comeback at Saratoga, the six year old has retained all his ability. Although beaten five lengths, the winner is an exceptional turf sprinter. He has won again since and is likely to go to The Breeders’ Cup. It was his first run of the year so may improve a little second time back. Now taking on fellow Ontario breds, he looks the runner to beat.

Its Time to Shine (5) has not been out of the first two in his last half a dozen starts. He made in victory number four in that spell when winning a similar stake to this one last month. That was over six furlongs but his form over today’s distance is just as good. He will rightly have his supporters. It will be interesting to see how much money last time out claims Silent Reserve (1) and Giant Teddy (2) take. Both come off victories. Silent Reserve (1) may be the more dangerous. He wired Ready to Collect (3) over course and distance last month. The rail drawn runner may be the one to catch.

Botta Swing (7) is a mare taking on the boys. She has little miles on the clock and may improve off a victory on her comeback. Last year’s runner up Forester's Fortune (8) gets behind early. Pace to chase down and she could make the frame again.

21:20 Woodbine - Winner Outlaw Kid

Odds correct at time of publishing.

22:12 Saratoga (Race 8) - Cy Fair (4) @ SP

No trainer has had more success in two year old turf stakes in the last few years as George Weaver. He appears to have another quality runner in Cy Fair (4). She broke her maiden here by three plus lengths last month. The pair she beat were also first time starters and they haven’t raced again. The final time was fast and she showed an impressive burst of speed in deep stretch.

My Sweetheart (2) and Snow Face Princess (3) have both won their only starts on turf. My Sweetheart (2) did it on debut at Churchill. She followed that up with a stakes runner up try here on dirt. Back on the grass, she is of interest. So too is Snow Face Princess (3). She left her debut run on dirt behind when graduating over course and distance last month. If she takes another step forward, she can win this.

The only stakes winner in this line up is Gerrards Cross (5). She maintained her unbeaten record in a stake at Monmouth last month. The speedster goes for low profile but capable connections so may go off a bigger price than she should. With Irad Ortiz riding Sacred Goddess (6), she may offer less value. He was aboard when she won on debut. Her trainer has a fine record with second time starters.

Should've (7) is a first time starter trained by Wes Ward. She is also entered for a maiden over the weekend. If Ward lets her take her chances in this stake, he must think a lot of her.

22:12 Saratoga - Winner Cy Fair

Odds correct at time of publishing.
