Horse Racing Tips: Manila warrants one last chance

There’s a full day’s racing scheduled across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with a total of five meetings, including a pair of afternoon jumps cards and an AW Flat card. There’s another two AW Flat meetings set to take place in the evening with the final race at Kempton due off at 20.10.
First off is Lingfield (11.05), followed by Newbury (11.53) and Ludlow (12.13). The evening action gets under way at Kempton (16.05) and Dundalk (16.55). Amongst our Wednesday fancies is one for Simon and Ed Crisford, who has repeatedly threatened more than he’s so far achieved on the track.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, December 17

12.35 Lingfield - Only In Manila @ 5/4
There are clearly risks attached when backing Simon and Ed Crisford’s ONLY IN MANILA, but the first division of the mile maiden at Lingfield is clearly a race he can win, providing he puts his best foot forward.
The son of Victor Lodurum has a habit of giving ground away at the start, as he showed on his debut at Southwell in September, the chestnut coming home strongly from last to finish second, beaten less than a length.
That was a hugely encouraging effort, but he was unruly before the start at Brighton next time and again found one too good.
After being gelded prior to his run at Kempton at the start of this month, he was back to his old tricks, sacrificing ground at the start when finishing third under Oisin Murphy.
He gets cheekpieces added this time and warrants one last chance.

12.53 Newbury - Loustic Du Chatel @ 9/2
Henrietta Knight hasn’t set the world alight since returning to the training ranks, but she’s been coming along nicely enough and she has a potentially smart hurdling recruit on her hands in the shape of LOUSTIC DU CHATEL.
The selection was a runaway winner of a Class 2 bumper at Ascot on his rules debut last month, the four-year-old enjoying an uncontested lead under Brendan Powell and winning by 11 lengths, unchallenged.
He has obviously been bought with jumping in mind and makes major appeal now switching to hurdles.

17.25 Dundalk - Coincidental Glory @ 4/1
Dont Get Me Wrong got the better of Adrian McGuinness’s COINCIDENTAL GLORY in a claimer over this course-and-distance last month, but there’s a massive turnaround at the weights in this handicap, and it should see the selection gain revenge.
There was just a half-length between the pair here 19 days earlier and, given the winner carried only 8st 1lb compared to the second’s 9st 4lb, it’s not hard to see why these tables should be turned on tonight’s heavily revised terms.
There’s only 4lb between them on official ratings and Sam Coen takes off an invaluable 7lb from Coincidental Glory, who has regularly run to within a few pounds off his mark of 72 this year.
