Horse Racing Tips: Military can overpower rivals

There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with a mixture of jumps and flat action to take in from Nottingham, Wetherby, Punchestown, Worcester and Kempton.
Among our fancies is one for John and Thady Gosden, who should be suited by a return to the Polytrack at Kempton.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, October 15
- 15:35 Punchestown - King Of Kingsfield @ 11/8
- 17:15 Nottingham - South Shore @ 13/2

15:35 Punchestown - King Of Kingsfield @ 11/8
The Grade 3 novice chase at Punchestown looks a good opportunity for the Gordon Elliott-trained KING OF KINGSFIELD to get back to winning ways.
The seven-year-old has done well since switching to fences, winning two of his four starts and finishing an excellent third in this grade at Roscommon last month.
An easy winner in first-time cheekpieces at Ballinrobe in August, recording a career-best Racing Post Rating of 146 in the process, he’s proving consistent and reliable, something that can’t be said about his chief market rival, Birdie Or Bust.

17:15 Nottingham - South Shore @ 13/2
Ruth Carr’s SOUTH SHORE is back on the same mark as when scoring at Wetherby in June and looks to have strong claims in an open looking sprint handicap at Nottingham.
South Shore isn’t anything like the force he was in his pomp in the spring of last year, but he’s generally run to a consistent level this season, often in stronger races than this one.
Twice a runner-up off a mark of 62, he’s now 2lb lower and contests 0-60 company for the first time since his Wetherby victory.
He’s well drawn in stall two, with eight of the last 10 winners of this handicap having drawn five or lower.

18:10 Kempton - Military Cross @ 4/9
MILITARY CROSS shaped with immense promise on his debut over this course and distance last month and built on that, albeit when proving no match to the potentially smart Aegean Prince at Ascot next time.
Slowly away and green on his introduction, he looked unlikely to get involved when racing on the wrong leg turning for home, but the penny dropped entering the final two furlongs and he flew home, getting within a neck of his stablemate Port Of London, who’d enjoyed the run of the race out in front.
A 75,000gns half-brother to seven individual winners, namely smart Flat stayer and high-class jumper Wicklow Brave, he’s likely to want further in time, but he sets the standard judged on his most recent Racing Post Rating of 85 and has already shown his liking for this Poltytrack surface.
John and Thady Gosden have an impressive 26 per cent strike-rate with their runners over the past fortnight and William Buick, the track’s leading rider, takes over onboard for the first time.
