Horse Racing Tips: Nymph can strike lethal blow

With Ayr and Punchestown lost, racing could is relatively thin on the ground across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday.
Amongst our Tuesday fancies is one for trainer Alan King, who shaped with major encouragement on his seasonal reappearance and now goes chasing.

13:00 Uttoxeter - Fingle Bridge @ 2/13
Olly Murphy’s FINGLE BRIDGE didn’t see which way Lulamba went on his chasing debut at Exeter last month, but there was a lot to like about the way he finished his race off, having made a number of significant early mistakes.
The seven-year-old, who showed smart form in bumpers in late 2022, prior to missing the majority of the next two years through injury, was excellent over hurdles last season, rattling off a hat-trick, culminating in a defeat of Paul Nicholls’ subsequent Grade 1 runner-up, Regent’s Stroll, in a Listed race at Exeter in February.
He looked rusty early on his return and Sean Bowen appeared to contemplate pulling him following an alarming leap at the fourth. He was well behind at that stage, but he warmed to his task as the race went on and nothing was finishing better, getting up for an unlikely second near the finish and hitting the line hard.
That form was franked in no uncertain terms at Sandown last week, the winner following up with a bloodless success in the Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices’ Chase and the third, Salver, running away with a Grade 2.

14:30 Uttoxeter - Ski Lodge @ 13/8
Things have been going well for Alan King of late and he looks to have found a good opportunity for SKI LODGE to make a winning debut at Uttoxeter.
Ski Lodge, who was runner-up in his sole Irish point outing, has done well since switching to the professional ranks, winning a Chepstow bumper and at Haydock over hurdles.
A runner-up on a couple of other occasions, he’s been well suited by a stamina test and shaped with plenty of encouragement on last month’s seasonal return over hurdles at Lingfield, the combination of an inadequate trip and unsuitable ground finding him out.
He switches to fences off the same handicap mark of 115 and is preferred to Venetia Williams’ Sole Solution, who ended last season with a pair handicap hurdle wins.

17:00 Newcastle - Lethal Nymph @ 4/1
The Paul Midgley-trained LETHAL NYMPH has had a good season and looks set to avenge last month’s unlucky defeat behind the reopposing Dark Cloud Rising.
The six-year-old ended a losing run dating back to September 2022 when winning by the smallest of margins at Doncaster in September, but he’s generally run well since, finishing runner-up at Pontefract before winning over this course-and-distance at the start of last month.
Up 4lb for the second of those successes to a mark of 84, he was only beaten half-a-length when back at Newcastle 19 days ago and can easily have that performance upgraded, having been stopped in his run at a vital stage.
He was never quite getting there, but was finishing best of all and clearly remains on a good mark.
