Horse Racing Tips: Sarab can star on handicap debut

A busier Tuesday than usual with a total of six meetings being staged across Britain and Ireland, four afternoon fixtures followed by a pair of AW cards under the lights.
First off is Lingfield (1.30), before Leicester (1.44), Market Rasen (1.51) and Punchestown (2.05). The evening action at Newcastle and Dundalk is due off at 16:50 and 17:00 respectively.
Amongst our Tuesday’s fancies is one for trainer Jack Channon who makes his handicap debut off what could prove a lenient mark.

13:51 Market Rasen - Un Sens A La Vie @ 8/15
The Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies-trained UN SENS A LA VIE can maintain his unbeaten record under rules in the opening maiden hurdle at Market Rasen.
The five-year-old, who cost 180,000gns at the Cheltenham November Sales last year following a win in an Irish point the previous month, created a favourable impression when winning his bumper at this track in February.
He travelled strongly on the front end and quickened nicely once sent about his work to score by a comfortable three-and-a-half lengths.
A half-brother to French 2m1f hurdle winner La Temeraire, he’s an exciting prospect and is readily preferred to Pioneer Pete, who was placed in a couple of Warwick bumpers last term.

14:35 Punchestown - Jake Peter @ 16/1
Mark Cahill’s JAKE PETER can make it back-to-back wins in this 2m handicap hurdle, the 11-year-old back on a good mark and having shaped with a bit more encouragement than his form figures suggest of late.
The selection ran out a comfortable winner of this race last term at odds of 9-1 and, while he’s 4lb higher on this occasion, he’s 2lb lower than when winning a similar handicap at Cork last November.
He kept on nicely to finish eighth of 17 at Listowel last month, beaten less than ten lengths, having been involved in some scrimmaging at a couple of occasions early on.
He’s very likely been campaigned with this race in mind and has form figures of 22010 when contesting handicap company at Punchestown.

16:44 Leicester - Sarab Star @ 7/2
The Lightly raced SARAB STAR makes his handicap debut in the feature 7f handicap at Leicester and he should give a good account of himself off what looks a lenient opening mark.
The Jack Channon-trained colt made a winning debut over 6f at Salisbury in August of last year, the son of Zoustar getting up in the closing stages after showing signs of inexperience and greenness at various stages, including when jumping a path.
Clearly held in high regard, he was sent-off at just 4-1 for the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes on his next start at Newbury in September 2024 and, although finishing last of the six runners, he acquitted himself well until the heavy ground took its toll.
He wasn’t seen again until August this year, but he was notably strong in the market and ran out a dominant all-the-way winner under a penalty over 7f at Kempton.
He was judged to have run to a Racing Post Rating of 93 on that occasion and must surely be a big player off an official mark of 88.
