Horse Racing Tips: Itraaq is ready to get off the mark at Yarmouth

We have hit the point in the year at which the Flat season is coming to a close and the National Hunt action is set to take over. The former still takes centre stage on Monday however, with four of the day’s five fixtures being Flat cards.
Musselburgh, Yarmouth, Roscommon and Hereford all take place in the afternoon, whilst the evening entertainment is provided by Kempton.
There’s some competitive racing on offer but we’ve got three strong fancies who can come out on top and they include a lightly-raced handicapper for William Haggas who looks more than ready to start winning races.
Horse Racing Tips - Monday, October 13
- 14:00 Yarmouth - Devil’s Peak @ 11/4
- 14:12 Hereford - Ride Like A Girl @ 11/8
- 16:30 Yarmouth - Itraaq @ 6/5

14:00 Yarmouth - Devil’s Peak @ 11/4
This looks like a pretty winnable maiden and the John & Thady Gosden-trained DEVIL’S PEAK could be the one to come out on top. The thrice-raced son of Camelot can put his experience to good use and he has already earned a rating of 80.
He struggled behind subsequent Group 3 runner-up Al Zanati on debut at Newmarket but it was a much better display at Haydock next time and he almost came up trumps.
You would have to consider him an unlucky loser that day as he was repeatedly denied a run in the last three furlongs and only had a clear passage in the last 110 yards. Devil’s Peak was only denied by a head in the end and should be winning races on that evidence.
A repeat of that performance should be more than enough here and it’s unlikely that the drop back in trip would be an issue. A little disappointing on the all-weather last time, perhaps returning to grass can allow him to get back on track.

14:12 Hereford - Ride Like A Girl @ 11/8
Jamie Snowden is flying along at the moment and is currently operating at a strike rate of 54 per cent, with seven winners from his 13 runners in the last fortnight. RIDE LIKE A GIRL showed plenty of promise in bumpers and should be winning races over hurdles.
She ran a nice race to finish third in a Newbury bumper back in December, despite being a little too keen early on, and she probably would have finished closer if not for that.
Snowden’s filly made no mistake when making all the running to win at Huntingdon in March. The daughter of Beaumec De Houelle was always in control and went on to score by just shy of five lengths.
It was a good effort when third against the boys at Warwick on seasonal and hurdling debut last month and she’s entitled to improve for that. A bad mistake at the second-last effectively ended her chances but she can leave that well behind her with victory here.

16:30 Yarmouth - Itraaq @ 6/5
William Haggas has also been in decent form recently and the lightly raced ITRAAQ looks ready to get off the mark. She was far from disgraced when third in a Nottingham novice over 1m2f in June and filled the same spot on handicap debut at Sandown last time.
Getting off to a slow start that day, she didn’t quite have the pace to challenge the winner but only just missed out on second.
Out of a Group 2-winning mare, perhaps the step up to an extended 1m3f will help and we definitely haven’t seen the best of her yet.
