Wednesday’s Racing Tips: Plushy set to score for in-form Cromwell

Following the abandonments at Exeter and Leicester, only two meetings remain in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, a pair of AW Flat cards at Dundalk in the afternoon and at Kempton in the evening.

We've provided our best three bets for the day’s action, including one for the now very much in-form Gavin Cromwell, who went close to winning over this course-and-distance last time.

Gavin Cromwell has been back amongst the winners in recent days and his resurgence looks set to continue courtesy of PLUSHY, who found only one too good over this course-and-distance earlier this month.

The three-year-old has run well on two of her last three visits to Dundalk, beaten three lengths into sixth on her handicap debut off a mark of 66 in November, before outrunning her odds of 33-1 when runner-up off a 4lb lower mark a fortnight ago.

She's back up to 64 here, but she's one of the least exposed runners in the field and should make a bold bid from the front under Chris Hayes.

15:32 Dundalk - Winemaker @ 7/2

Declan McGuigan’s WINEMAKER won a shade cosily over 6f here on his stable debut earlier this month and may well be capable of following up off a 5lb higher mark.

The six-year-old has won three of his 17 starts at this track and is versatile in terms of trip, those successes coming over 5f, 6f and over this course-and-distance.

He tends to come into his own early in the year (his wins have come in the months of January to March) and appeared revitalised by a change of stable, the son of Johnny Barnes coming home strongly under Declan McDonogh to score by a growing length margin 15 days ago.

He won't be at all inconvenienced by a return to seven and looks sure to be thereabouts in a race where very few can be seriously fancied.

19:30 Kempton - Show Me Gold @ 10/1

There's a bit of guesswork required in this fillies’ maiden with the much of the field unexposed and open to improvement, but Tom Dascombe's SHOW ME GOLD ran to a Racing Post Rating of 64 when second on her debut at Wolverhampton at the end of last month, which gives her very little to find with those that set the standard.

The daughter of Havana Gold was prominent throughout and stuck on nicely for pressure to be beaten a neck by the 70-rated Jamie Sommers, who had the benefit of two previous outings.

That experience won't have been lost on the selection and she'll likely only need to improve marginally on her debut form in order to be bang in the mix.
