Tuesday Racing Tips: Kapal can collect

There’s a busy Tuesday in store for racing fans with a quartet of afternoon jumps meetings accompanied by one AW Flat card under the lights.
First off is Down Royal at 13:18, closely followed by Wexford (13:37), Exeter (13:45) and Wetherby (14:02). Wolverhampton’s first race of nine is scheduled for 16:28. Amongst our Tuesday fancies is one for Olly Murphy, who looks set to appreciate the combination of a drop in grade and return to better ground.

14:12 Wexford - Mart Lane @ 7/2
The Barry Connell-trained MART LANE was beaten a long way when fifth of 17 at Thurles last month, but he finished off his race strongly on that occasion and should give a good account.
The five-year-old has failed to get seriously involved in both his hurdles starts to date, but he ran to a Racing Post Rating of 99 last time, a repeat of which would likely put him firmly in the mix in this company.
It may be that he’ll appreciate going up in trip sooner rather than later, but this looks a good opportunity for him, especially with so many doubts concerning the Willie Mullins-trained Eliodam.

15:57 Wexford - Kevin’s Pride @ 11/4
Only four go to post for this beginners’ chase and, with doubts surrounding three of the runners, it’s hard to get away from the John McConnell-trained KEVIN’S PRIDE.
The selection has yet to finish out of the first two in his six starts under rules, winning a Kilbeggan bumper on debut prior to finding one too good on his first four starts over hurdles, including over 3m on soft ground at Limerick last April.
He gained a deserved first success at Cork in October over 2m5f and won’t be at all inconvenienced by the distance of 3m1f now switching to fences - something that can’t be said about Yoradreamer and Great Attitude, who both have stamina to prove over this far.

16:22 Wetherby - Kapal Layar @ 11/2
The recent form figures of the Olly Murphy KAPAL LAYAR are hardly encouraging, but there’s reason to believe he can return to form now that he is back on better ground off a reduced mark.
The seven-year-old ended last season on a high with victories at Chepstow and Perth, the latter coming in good style off a mark of 115 on good to soft ground in April.
He’s been comfortably held in three starts this term, but he has been contesting better races than this and had valid excuses when pulled up on his return from wind surgery at Newbury last time - the heavy ground on that occasion far from ideal.
Now back down to 120, he reverts to Class 4 company for the first time since his Perth success and can return to the winners’ enclosure.
