Horse Racing Tips - Monday, March 9

HARBOUR LIGHT made a pleasing handicap debut for the Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies team at Chepstow recently and is fancied to build on that now he is upped again in trip at Stratford.
The Harbour Law gelding had shown just a modicum of promise in five starts in bumpers and hurdles but he produced a better effort on his handicap bow upped to 2m3½f on soft ground at the Welsh circuit.
He and Inion Tiger came clear from three out with the Grace Harris-trained winner obliging with plenty in hand at the line off a 9lb lower mark than Harbour Light following a series of solid showings.
Five-year-old Harbour Light goes up in trip to 2m6f here and with a bit more fluency over his obstacles, he has scope to go one spot better with Sam Twiston-Davies taking over from claimer Toby McCain-Mitchell in the saddle.

16:10 Taunton – Chief Black Robe @ 11/2
Irish import CHIEF BLACK ROBE produced his best effort in three outings for Fergal O'Brien when second-best in a handicap chase at Market Rasen (2m3f, soft) at the start of February.
He couldn't match the winner but found plenty under pressure to finish second, just ahead of a next-time-out winner from the Evan Williams team.
Chief Black Robe lined up from a mark of 98 that day and can take his chance over hurdles from 5lb lower, with Tom Broughton taking off a further 5lb via his claim.
A four-time winner over fences, he has yet to score over hurdles (0-14) but that recent effort bodes well and he can give likely favourite Special John plenty to think about.

17:20 Stratford – High Game Royal @ 9/2
HIGH GAME ROYAL is a new recruit to the Rebecca Romain yard and makes his stable debut in the 2m5f Novices' Hunters' Chase that concludes the action at Stratford.
It looks like a good starting point for him. The nine-year-old had figures of 2332 in four outings over fences for Philip Hobbs and Johnson White previously, the most recent of those coming at Southwell over an extended three miles last May.
His other three starts were over intermediate trips, while he had hurdles form at two miles and has gone well fresh before, so returning from a break isn't a concern today in a contest for which he looks to hold excellent credentials.
