Monday Racing Tips: The Wallpark can return to winning ways at Leopardstown

There’s plenty happening on the racing front on Monday, with a relatively rare Monday fixture from Leopardstown in Ireland, which features the Listed QuinnBet Handicap Chase, and three meetings on offer across Britain. Kempton’s all-weather fixture gets us under way and National Hunt action from Southwell and Leopardstown follows swiftly afterwards.
Wolverhampton provides the evening entertainment under the lights. We have three strong fancies to follow across Leopardstown and Kempton on Monday and among them is a Gordon Elliott-trained novice in the main event, who showed signs of a return to form last time out. Read on for our Monday Racing Tips.

16:25 Leopardstown - The Wallpark @ 4/1
Mark Walsh will be on board THE WALLPARK here and JP McManus’ retained jockey can steer the lightly raced chaser to victory. Handicaps could be the making of him over fences and there were clear signs that he’s on his way back on the evidence of his last run.
The Wallpark ran in a Grade 2 novice chase at Navan when last seen and it was a much improved performance. The son of Ask still didn’t jump with fluency consistently but stuck to his task well after becoming detached to finish second to a legitimate Brown Advisory contender.
His hurdles form is very strong and he ran a cracker to finish third in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last term. That form is significantly above what any of the 15 rivals offer here and he’s entitled to run a big race at this sort of level.
Elliott’s eight-year-old won a seemingly competitive handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in good style last term and a return to that form would give him every chance here.
There should also be more to come in the jumping department.

16:37 Kempton - Spanish Voice @ 6/4
Kempton’s feature race is a very competitive-looking Class 3 handicap over 1m4f and handicap debutant SPANISH VOICE makes the most appeal. It’s unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him just yet and he could go on to become a 100+ horse.
Andrew Balding’s colt returned from a break with a dominant performance in novice company last time out and, as a result, an opening handicap mark of 85 could prove to be fairly generous. He could only manage third here on debut but it was a promising effort.
Getting off the mark in a Class 2 novice at Newmarket in April, Spanish Voice defied an absence of 302 days to follow up under a penalty at Lingfield earlier this month.
Admittedly it wasn’t the strongest of races but he’s entitled to improve and could be very dangerous here.

16:55 Leopardstown - Promontory @ 10/1
Three-mile Limerick maiden hurdle winner PROMONTORY has only had three starts over fences so far and he produced an improved performance to finish second in a handicap at Navan last time out.
While he had no chance with the very impressive winner, who has won again since, he stuck to his task well and held off the challenge of So They Tell Me.
Donagh Meyler is on board and if the nine-year-old steps forward again, he can win off 1lb higher this time around.
