Epsom Oaks Tips 2026: Keen on Legacy establishing exactly that

Nine fillies go to post for the Betfred Oaks - British Classic number three - on Friday (16:00). A mile and a half is the trip, Epsom the destination. History beckons.

I've settled on a couple of Epsom Oaks Tips 2026, including one at an each-way price for that man Aidan O'Brien.

Taghrooda. Enable. Anapurna. Soul Sister. Is LEGACY LINK the next name to make the list of Betfred Oaks winners trained by the Gosdens? I think so.

She was always supposed to be racing at this level. The daughter of Dubawi is out of a Galileo mare in Chiasma, a half-sister to Frankel, no less. Noble Mission and Bullet Train, too. Just for added measure.

She was bred by Juddmonte Stud, and of course sports those famous green, pink and white silks. Lots to like before she'd even set hoof on a racecourse.

That occasion came at Newmarket last August, and it's fair to say it was a tad underwhelming. She was third of eight, beaten over five lengths.

The winner, Evolutionist, has turned into a smart filly for Karl Burke, finishing runner-up in the Betfred 1000 Guineas last month, and the 90-rated Lyrics Of Life is no mug either - but at the time, more was surely expected of the selection.

She reversed that form with the aforementioned Lyrics Of Life next time out, comfortably, before a fine fourth in the Fillies' Mile at HQ on her final run at two. A highly-encouraging, staying-on performance behind the likes of Precise (Irish 1000 Guineas heroine), the aforementioned Evolutionist and Venetian Lace, who reopposes in the Betfred Oaks.

But she's from Clarehaven, so it was never going to be until this season, over intermediate trips, that she properly came into her own.

And we're already starting to see what that looks like after her success in the Musidora at York just over three weeks ago. Despite the fact she almost definitely needed the run, she had the class and heart in equal measure to see off the challenge of the highly-regarded, unbeaten Felicitas and the reopposing K Sarra.

That's already up there with some of the best form on offer in the Betfred Oaks field, and I expect her to come on a bundle for the run.

Of course, the big questions are as follows: Will she handle Epsom? Stay the trip? Enjoy the ground if the rain materialises? We won't know until we know, but I'm hopeful she'll rise to the occasion under Colin Keane.

For an each-way bet on the Betfred Oaks, I suggest SUGAR ISLAND for Aidan O'Brien.

Another daughter of Dubawi, she appears to be Ballydoyle's third-string and likely pacemaker, but we've seen such types steal it from the front once or twice before.

That isn't how it went in the Cheshire Oaks last month, as she ultimately set things up for stablemate and Betfred Oaks favourite Amelia Earhart, but it is what happened when she beat the reopposing Thundering On and Cameo in a Group 3 at the Curragh last October.

On heavy ground, too, so any rain in Surrey over the next 48 hours will be of no concern to her. None at all.

It's a big ask, but you're very likely to at least get a run for your money and who knows, maybe it'll be another Serpentine. The female version, of course.
