Sandown racecourse

Seven meetings - six on the flat and one over jumps - make up the racing agenda on Saturday.

I've studied the cards and landed on four Saturday racing tips, including a 2/1 Nap from Chester.

Saturday Racing Tips - August 30, 2025

  • 14:25 Sandown - Flight each-way @ 15/2
  • 15:00 Sandown - Flying Frontier each-way @ 12/1
  • 15:27 Curragh - Barnavara @ 9/2
  • 16:25 Chester - Kinswoman @ 2/1

14:25 Sandown - Flight each-way @ 15/2

An ease in grade can see Ollie Sangster's FLIGHT back in the winners' enclosure at Sandown on Saturday.

The three-year-old daughter of Siyouni was a useful juvenile who looked set for a big season after finishing runner-up in the Betfred 100 Guineas at Newmarket back in May.

Exactly three weeks later she took in another Classic contest, the Irish 1000 Guineas, and was slightly underwhelming, before disappointing in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The fact she's been given a small break of 70+ days is encouraging in regards to her returning to form, while the drop from Group 1 to Group 3 is of course a positive. If she can indeed bounce back to something like her best, the 109-rated filly ought to go very close in this company.

I can't believe her price in comparison to the once-raced Alobayyah, who's returning from 312 days on the sidelines, and she's tipped each-way in this Extra Place Race with four places on offer.

14:25 Sandown - Each-way (1/5 - 4 places) Flight

Odds correct at time of publishing.

15:00 Sandown - Flying Frontier each-way @ 12/1

It's another each-way fancy, in the form of FLYING FRONTER, for me in the next at Berkshire.

James Tate's five-year-old is inconsistent, but he appears to love Sandown with two wins from three starts at the track.

He was successful here last time out, beating the veteran Sir Busker in an identical 0-105 handicap over 1m2f, and has only been raised a pound for his efforts.

Admittedly, that form could be a lot better, but he looks overpriced at 12/1 in another Extra Place Race offering four places.

15:00 Sandown - Each-way (1/5 - 4 places) Flying Frontier

Odds correct at time of publishing.

15:27 Curragh - Barnavara @ 9/2

Over in Ireland, I'm backing Jessie Harrington's BARNAVARA to complete a hat-trick by landing the G3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes.

Given she's already beaten the reopposing Red Letter, who is our current 9/4 favourite, at Navan in June, how exactly is the daughter of Calyx nearly double the price? Answers on a postcard, please.

Since that victory, the selection was successful in a Group 3 at Naas, beating another Ger Lyons inmate in the famous Juddmonte silks who'd been backed into 10/11f to maintain her unbeaten record. Barnavara beat that one by just over a length and is without a doubt in the form of her life.

I make it likely she'll confirm placings with the aforementioned Red Letter, and therefore she's a cracking bet at the prices.

15:27 Curragh - Winner Barnavara

Odds correct at time of publishing.

16:25 Chester - Kinswoman @ 2/1

Last but certainly not least, it's my Nap of the Day - KINSWOMAN in a 0-80 handicap over five furlongs at Chester.

If you're not already aware, there's a clear bias over sprint trips on the Knavesmire. Ideally, you want a low-drawn horse that races prominently.

Enter William Haggas' three-year-old daughter of Mehmas, who opened her account at the sixth time of asking at Windsor earlier this month.

A half-sister to last year's Lockinge winner Audience, rated 124 at his peak, it's fair to say the Cheveley Park-owned filly hasn't lived up to her potential, but it's still early days and I'm hoping she can progress now she has a win on the board.

She was 1/5f to oblige at Windsor, so I'm not reading too much into the form, but she looked at home over the minimum trip and her style of going forward is suited to Chester, especially out of the first stall.

If Cieren Fallon can get her out in front, I suspect she'll prove difficult to reel in and can provide the in-form Haggas (28% strike rate) another winner.

16:25 Chester - Winner Kinswoman

Odds correct at time of publishing.
