Salisbury Tips: Three to follow on Wednesday

There are six race meetings across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday and I like the look of the card taking place at Salisbury.

There are six races to enjoy across the day's action and I have picked out my three best bets for you to consider. Below you will find my Salisbury Tips for Wednesday, July 23.

14:15 Salisbury - Endowed @ 4/1

This Class 6 handicap over 7f gets us up and running on Wednesday, for both the card and my selections. There is a stacked field of 13 runners declared for this and one who has strong credentials is ENDOWED.

The eight-year-old is striving to secure a hat-trick after landing back-to-back successes at Chepstow in June, over 6f. All his triumphs over this distance have been on good to firm or good ground, and conditions are looking favourable for him in Salisbury.

His last run here was in May, when he finished fourth out of eight over 6f. Trainers John and Rhys Flint will be hoping for a better showing this time and recent performances suggest they might just get that.

There are question marks around Endowed as he is yet to show any real promise over 7f but recent form, coupled with the fact that this field is not particularly strong, may just present him with an opportunity. Certainly worth considering.

15:50 Salisbury - Opening Bat @ 3/1

OPENING BAT is set for his fourth start since being gelded in December and he is lined up for his second outing at Salisbury, the setting of his debut in September. The three-year-old has been improving since then, when he finished seventh out of 12 over 1m.

That is the distance he will be covering on Wednesday in this Class 5 handicap, with another six runners for him to think about. He landed his first success at Kempton (AW) in May, which was flanked by two respectable runs at Bath and more recently Newmarket.

He was third behind Political Power, who he faces at Salisbury, but Opening Bat could be set for further improvement still for Harry Charlton's yard. Trevor Whelan, who has been on board for three of his rides to date, is booked for this one, and they will be looking to land their first success as a pairing.

16:20 Salisbury - Darkened Edge @ 5/1

The penultimate race of the day is where I round off my selections. This Class 6 handicap over 5f has 10 runners declared and there are a few with decent claims. One of them is DARKENED EDGE for Christopher Mason's yard.

This mare has been consistent this season with a record of 3213. The victory came at Chepstow over the same trip as Wednesday and she was denied a double there by Banana on latest appearance.

The five-year-old has two victories over this trip and she has a strong chance based on recent form. Gina Mangan has been on board for the past four rides which have all been positive, and this continued relationship can lead to a more prominent run at Salisbury.
