Salisbury scaled

There are five meetings across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday with jumps cards at Fontwell and Sligo in the evening joined by Catterick, while afternoon action comes from Salisbury and Wolverhampton, on the all-weather.

We're focused on the action at Salisbury, where they race from 14:00-17:05 on ground forecast to be 'good-good to firm in places' for their seven-race card.

14:00 Salisbury - Too Darn Good @ 7/2

Novice fare here over 6f and a field of 12 runners was declared, with Kesta and Dubai Time amongst those that have shown promise already and Factual amongst the newcomers of note.

TOO DARN GOOD shaped with some promise on debut at Bath (5f, good to firm) 18 days ago and is fancied to build on that here.

The Too Darn Hot colt was an 18/1 chance in that debut outing for trainer Charlie Hills and made a decent enough fist of things, despite taking a bump mid-race and being forced widest of all.

He was just over two lengths off the winner passing the line and should be wiser for that experience. An extra furlong won't hinder him and he has proved he can handle a quick surface.

15:00 Salisbury - Strike @ 10/3

He's got to defy top-weight, but STRIKE might prove himself equal to that challenge for trainer Jonathan Portman in the George Smith Horseboxes Handicap over six furlongs.

The Lethal Force gelding won twice last summer at Newbury and Windsor over this trip on fast ground and went close to completing a hat-trick off a mark of 75 at Newmarket in August.

After blowing off the cobwebs at Kempton in April, he has finished second at Ascot and Windsor, both over 6f, in Class 4 events in recent weeks.

He's off the same mark now, but eased slightly in grade and in his current mood, his turn appears to be looming large.

15:00 Salisbury - Winner Strike

16:30 Salisbury - Crepe Suzette @ 13/8

A mile-and-a-quarter is the trip for the Sorvio Insurance Brokers Margadale Fillies' Handicap and the lightly raced CREPE SUZETTE can go well for John & Thady Gosden on handicap bow.

The daughter of Saxon Warrior is fresh off opening her account in a Wolverhampton maiden in late April.

That was just her third outing and the step up to 1m1½f appeared to suit well. She hit the front turning in and did well to hold off the challenge of runner-up Mythical Bird, with a pair of next-time-out winners behind in third and fourth.

An opening mark of 77 looks very workable with further improvement likely and she should go well if able to sit just behind what could be a contested lead, with the likes of Schemaya and Patsy Snugfit liable to force that pace.

16:30 Salisbury - Winner Crepe Suzette
