Nottingham Tips: Three to consider on Tuesday

There are five UK and Irish race meetings to choose from on Tuesday and I am particularly drawn to the seven-race card taking place at Nottingham.

14:40 Nottingham - Abate @ 9/4

The second race of the day is a Class 5 handicap contested over a distance of 5f. It's a relatively short field with just six runners declared and there are a couple who have claims. ABATE is the one who jumps out at me after an impressive run at Lingfield last time out, finishing second out of eight.

It was the nine-year-old's first appearance since switching to George Baker's yard, and already the signs are promising for this new working relationship. The gelding has posted two distance victories, as well as one over C&D back in 2021.

Ground conditions are set to be similar to how it was for him at Lingfield and it may just play into his hands. Neil Callan was on board for that ride, and he's booked in for this trip, with that added consistency likely to strengthen their chances.

16:10 Nottingham - Mrs Trump @ 9/4

Six runners have been declared for this Class 6 handicap over a 6f trip and a runner that will be hoping for a better ride at this racecourse is MRS TRUMP. This mare finished fifth out of eight when appearing here last month for a 5f trip, and connections will be hoping for improvement this time around.

She has boosted her credentials by winning her last race at Thirsk which featured a stacked field of 18 runners over the same distance that will be covered on Tuesday. The five-year-old remains on a good mark and has now posted two victories over this trip, which makes her an attractive option.

Mrs Trump also posted back-to-back second-place finishes at Nottingham a year ago, although they were both 5f trips. She has had positive experiences here, which can be experienced again following her last showing.

16:42 Nottingham - Two B Tanned @ 3/1

The penultimate race of the day is where I round off my selections, and this Class 4 handicap is contested over 1m. There are just five runners declared for this one and there are a couple with strong claims, but my pick is TWO B TANNED. The four-year-old is looking to get back on the winning trail after a disappointing run at Wolverhampton last time out at the beginning of June.

Before that, the filly had won four races on the spin (twice at Beverley, then Musselburgh and Leicester), all over a similar distance. Huge strides in progress have been made with her this season since switching to Julie Camacho's yard in March, and current form would point to Wolverhampton being a blip.

Camacho and connections will be hoping that is the case but this will in fact be Two B Tanned's first visit to Nottingham, which is also to be considered. Joe Fanning, who was on board for three of her recent winning rides, is booked for Tuesday, which could have a positive impact on proceedings.
