Newmarket racecourse

There are eight UK and Irish race meetings to sink our teeth into on Saturday and I am particularly drawn to the action at Newmarket, where a seven-race card awaits.

Below you will find my three Newmarket Tips for Saturday, July 19.

16:55 Newmarket - Favorite Memory @ 11/1

FAVORITE MEMORY is my first pick of the day, and she is declared for the second race which is a Listed contest over 1m 4f. The three-year-old has had a respectable start to her career in three starts.

She began with a fifth-place finish out of eight here on debut in May (1m). This was followed by an impressive second out of 11 at Kempton (AW) over 1m 3f, losing out to Silent Love by 3/4 length in June.

That same month, further progress was achieved as the filly landed her first success at Doncaster over Saturday's trip. She topped a four-horse field and won comfortably by nine lengths.

She faces a tougher test of her credentials at Newmarket but this unexposed daughter of Frankel is in safe hands with Ralph Beckett, and the experienced Richard Kingscote is booked for this ride.

18:35 Newmarket - Siam Fox @ 5/1

There are nine runners declared for this Class 5 handicap over 1m and there are a few with strong claims. SIAM FOX for Kevin Frost's yard is well-travelled over this distance and boasts three successes thus far.

The seven-year-old is well-treated based on last year's form and he delivered his best performance of the season on his latest appearance over C&D last month. Frost will have taken plenty of positives from that run and will probably feel that there is more to come from the gelding.

Ground conditions are looking optimal for Siam Fox and the recent familiarity with this course should aid him on Saturday. There are a couple rivals to be concerned about but he has just as strong claims as they do.

19:05 Newmarket - Another Abbot @ 15/8

My final selection comes from the penultimate race on the card, which is a Class 4 handicap over 6f. This field is stacked, with 13 runners declared and there are several who have claims on Saturday, such as Aberama Gold and Dashing Dick.

But it is ANOTHER ABBOT, for William Haggas' yard, who has my favour. Since being gelded at the start of the year, the three-year-old has made good progress under Haggas' charges.

After a disappointing run at Yarmouth (seventh of 10) over 5f to start the season in May, Another Abbot showed drastic improvement with back-to-back second-place finishes over the same trip at Redcar and Lingfield.

The biggest marker of his progress was shown on his last outing as he won over C&D on June 26. Haggas and connections should feel there is more to come from this unexposed runner still, and he is worth keeping a close eye on upon his swift return to CB8.
