Nap of the day generic

There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday with a mix of jumps and Flat action.

The National Hunt season is beginning to pick up and jumps cards come from Huntingdon and Galway, alongside Flat meetings from Leicester, Brighton and Southwell (AW) with 36 scheduled races in total.

Tuesday's NAP of the Day, Davidoc, will look to enhance the excellent track records of Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan at Huntingdon on his comeback from a short break.

15:37 Huntingdon – Davidoc @ 3/1

Trainer Jamie Snowden enjoys his visits to Huntingdon, with a 32 per-cent strike-rate over the last five seasons from 50 runners at this track.

Gavin Sheehan rides plenty of those winners and the Cambridgeshire venue is good to him too, his 29 winners in the last five seasons rating higher than any of today's rivals in the weighing room.

The partnership have a couple of chances on this card, including DAVIDOC in the JCB Hydrogen Handicap Chase over two-and-a-half-miles.

The seven-year-old is 0-8 over fences but he repeatedly ran well last term in defeat, with a brace of runner-up finishes over this trip at Warwick before signing off in the summer with a silver medal over 2m7f on good ground at Worcester.

That effectively became a match race and the favourite, Jubilant for James Owen, found a bit more under pressure to land the spoils, while the tailed-off third, Paddy De Pole, won on his next start at Sedgefield last month.

Davidoc has been off the track for more than two months and has relocated from Ben Pauling in that time.

He finds himself lining out from a career-low rating of 104 now on stable debut and sporting a first-time hood to hopefully keep his concentration in check in the latter stages.

As well as boasting a positive record at this venue, the Snowden team could scarcely be in better form, with five winners from 10 starters across the preceding fortnight.

James Owen once more provides a possible fly in the ointment with his recent Sedgefield scorer, Jackpot Cash, while Warwick runner-up Pep Talking is a player for Billy Aprahamian.

Davidoc is, though, dropping slightly in grade after his break and will be fine back down in trip.

If the new headgear has a positive effect, this rating is one from which he can strike for connections that usually do so well at this venue.
