Nap of the Day: Owen makes the case for Race To Base on Tuesday

I was delighted to provide a 3/1 winner on Saturday after a luckless week - and I'm hoping Nap of the Day followers are in for more joy on Tuesday.
It's to Hereford we go looking for more success, putting our faith in one for the Twiston-Davies team.

He's priced accordingly, but RACE TO BASE should take the world of beating in the opener at Hereford on Tuesday.
Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies' five-year-old son of Vadamos has been found an outstanding opportunity to open his account over hurdles after finishing fifth in probably the strongest maiden Uttoxeter has seen in as early as October for years.
The winner, De Temps En Temps, followed up in a Class 2 at Cheltenham a few weeks later, while the second-placed Tiptoptim, sent off 5/4f in Staffordshire, bolted up on his next start – also in a higher grade – at Ludlow on Thursday.
Loriko, who finished third, occupied the same spot in the Masterson at Cheltenham’s Showcase Meeting and Marsiac (fourth) was in the winners’ enclosure at Aintree at the end of last month.
The selection's bumper form is strong, too. His beating of Captain Hugo, who had the rest of the field trailing by over 13 lengths, has been well-advertised by the latter winning his next two starts - a bumper by nine lengths and a maiden hurdle at Newbury on Thursday by a length-and-a-half.
Unusually for a Twiston-Davies inmate, Race To Base looked quite tired at the end of the race in Uttoxeter, losing a couple of places between the final flight and the line. He shaped like he would strip much fitter for the run next time out.
To be honest, he probably doesn’t need to improve at all to win this. The standard he sets from that one run alone is a fair bit stronger than any of his eight rivals have achieved to date.
I suppose Beggar's Nap is, as the betting suggests, our main danger. He was second to Nicky Henderson's well-regarded Eremenko in a bumper at Southwell back in May and that could prove to be a smart bit of form. He was comfortably second best, mind.
With improvement, which I do anticipate – not only for fitness and experience but also for stable jockey Sam Twiston-Davies returning to the saddle – Race To Base has an excellent chance of getting Nap of the Day followers off to a flyer for the week.
