NAP of the Day: Dylan can be number one at Galway

The Galway Festival bursts into life on Monday evening as the week-long extravaganza at Ballybrit begins with a mixed card featuring National Hunt and Flat racing.

Our NAP of the Day bids to get Dylan Browne McMonagle on the scoresheet at Galway as he looks to continue a superb summer.

It has been quite the summer for Dylan Browne McMonagle already. Ireland's champion jockey landed The Oaks at Epsom on Thundering On for Joseph O'Brien with a superb ride to bag his first British Classic win in June.

He added a Royal Ascot success on Limestone in the Queen's Vase and then took out the Irish Oaks on board Johanna Walsh as the good times continued to roll for the trainer/jockey alliance.

They'll be targeting success at the Galway Races and Glorious Goodwood this week and they can start with a bang as ONE NUMBER seeks to shed his maiden tag in the 7f Eventus Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden at Ballybrit.

Horse Racing Odds

Aidan O'Brien won this last season with subsequent star three-year-old Constitution River and he saddles City Of Gold and Hmas Perth in a field of eight, but they could be trumped by his son's sole contender.

One Number trumps these rivals for experience. He was second in a decent Curragh maiden over 6f at the start of June and then tackled the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot just a fortnight later.

He was well held there, but has since finished third in a Listed race at Naas over a mile despite racing a bit freely in the early stages.

The winner, Dancing Destiny, went close next time in a Leopardstown Group 3 and the fourth, Florida Bay, has since won in that grade at the Foxrock track.

Those form lines give One Number a solid claim here and the stiff 7f at Galway will suit a horse that has run well over the mile distance already.

A return to maiden company eases the burden on this promising Jack Christopher colt and can ensure Ireland's champion jockey isn't left waiting too long to get on the scoresheet at the Galway Races this week.
