Back on Nap of the Day duty after two from two earlier in the week - great stuff. Friday's racing is terrific, including a big TV night from Newcastle.

It's to the North-East that I'm headed for our selection; the first race on a stunning nine-contest card. Whether you're playing or not - have a cracking evening.

16:25 - Dream Illusion @ 15/8

Newcastle's opener on a monster night is a Class 5 one mile handicap, for experienced horses.

It's the first division in fact of a race that's been split given the number of entries, and our selection is a four-year-old Oasis Dream filly that's scored over course-and-distance previously, and has registered four successes all told from her 22 starts.

Dream Illusion is trained in Lincolnshire by Michael Herrington, who's had a couple of winners from his last 11 runners (and one at Southwell yesterday too) plus his horses are getting placed just now.

When last seen 16 days ago at Southwell our pick prevailed in a slightly higher grade by a neck, under 3lb claimer William Pyle. The horse is up 2lb for that success to a mark of 68 today, but her handler doesn't reach out for an apprentice to reduce the burden somewhat - instead he relies on professional Dylan Hogan, who's scored on Dream Illusion a couple of times previously.

Dylan also won the race after Constitution Hill's smooth success at Kempton on Wednesday on a 12/1 shot for trainer Patrick Morris, so he's nicely in the groove as well.

I take that booking as a very positive and confident sign, as is the fact that the last win was achieved with a career-best Racing Post rating of 75. Fresh from a personal best then, and only being raised a couple of spots given the closeness of the finish, there's a great deal to be optimistic about.

With nine slated in total to face the stater we shouldn't have any traffic problems in the run, touch wood, and this young lady travels and quickens just when you want her to.

Of her rivals,  Law Supreme I suspect would rather this was at Wolverhampton, Sea Legend needs everything to go right given he's habitually waited with from way out at the back, and I just think we're in better form than the rest anyway.

Very hopeful, but it's a smashing little heat and I'm looking forward to it.
