Nap of the day

There are three UK meetings on Monday, with all-weather racing dominating. They go at Lingfield and Kempton in the afternoon before Wolverhampton slots in later in the day.

At Kempton there are seven races from 13:08-16:08 and my Nap of the Day is fancied to run a big race for Richard Spencer in what is just her third start in a handicap.

The Class 4 Fillies' Handicap on the Kempton card looks an open affair. Seven runners are engaged and the likes of Handle With Care for Marco Botti, Gogo Yubari for Tony Carroll and Shallow for Richard Spencer are all worthy of consideration.

So, too, is the Spencer-trained YOUR LOVE and she is fancied to get the job done under George Wood.

The four-year-old Rajasinghe filly won a novice contest at Southwell in clear-cut fashion in November over six furlongs.

Things didn't pan out on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton on December 1 where she was a well-beaten favourite but she soon put that effort behind her when second back at Southwell over Christmas.

Wood was on board for that run, the partnership making stealthy progress from midfield to go and chase market leader Hunky Dory inside the final furlong.

Ultimately they were held in second spot behind the progressive Mick Appleby-trained winner, who seemed to improve in first-time cheekpieces, but they were strong in the finish none the less.

The third, Jamie Osborne's Em Four, franked that form by winning at Chelmsford at the start of this month.

Your Love was nudged up 1lb for that silver medal and remains with scope for better in handicaps after just two starts.

Her all-weather record shows figures of 233152 in six attempts and a second career win looks attainable despite a slight rise in grade here.

Top-weight shallow gives the Spencer teams a strong hand in this contest in the same colours of owner Phil Cunningham but it seems notable that Wood, the main rider for the yard, has instead opted for this low-mileage filly ahead of the more exposed mare – who is a dual winner over course and distance and now back within 1lb of her most recent Kempton winning mark.

She tends to go well fresh, and returns for her first start since October, but her younger stablemate can show the way now.
