Nap of the Day: Anorak at the ready in Gowran Park

A typical busy Saturday of racing action lies in store across Britain and Ireland, with six meetings set to be headlined by the Grade 1 Ascot Chase card as Jonbon lines up for Nicky Henderson.
They are joined over jumps by meetings from Haydock, Wincanton and Gowran Park, while all-weather fare comes from Lingfield in the afternoon and Newcastle in the evening. Saturday's NAP broke his duck at Fairyhouse recently under a talented claiming rider and they may be set for more success at Gowran Park with conditions in their favour.

A trio of graded races are on the agenda at Gowran Park on their Red Mills Trials day but the most appealing bet comes in the Albert Bartlett Triple Crown Series At Punchestown Festival 2026 Qualifier Handicap Hurdle over two-and-a-half-miles.
A field of 15 are set to line up and THEMANINTHEANORAK looks the one to be with for trainer Eugene O'Sullivan and rider Michael Kenneally.
The Pour Moi gelding exhibited some promise when landing a bumper at Listowel (2m, good) in June last year on his first start under Rules.
He improved on each of his three runs in maiden hurdles over differing trips and then showed up well on handicap bow at Fairyhouse (2m4½f, heavy) in November as he finished second to On Your Way.
The Charles Byrnes-trained winner was on a nice mark back from a break and went close in a beginners' chase at Clonmel soon after.
Themanintheanorak, meanwhile, went back to Fairyhouse over the same C&D and scored 11 days ago after a couple of months off.
He made a mistake at the second last but was resolute thereafter and came home a three-length winner from Folly Master in second spot.
That success came on testing ground, the sort he is set to encounter again at Gowran Park, so both conditions and trip appear fine..
He's been put up 7lb in the ratings for that win but a mark of 116 looks far from insurmountable for a lightly-raced, improving six-year-old.
This race has depth in numbers but perhaps less so in terms of solid contenders. Kenneally remains in the saddle for this assignment and it's hard to consider any claiming rider across Britain or Ireland that offers more bang for their buck right now.
He claims 5lb this time and has ridden six winners from 15 across the last fortnight, for a 40 per-cent strike-rate.
Themanintheanorak was amongst the sextet and he may well add another victory in one of just two mounts for the talented Kenneally at Gowran Park on Saturday.
