Nap of the day

There's plenty of race meetings on offer on Thursday, including Taunton, Lingfield, Leicester and Chelmsford. The latter is where I have turned my attention to for my latest Nap of the Day. After my pick ran a close second on Tuesday, I'm hoping to go one further this time around.

Check out my Nap of the Day below.

16:55 Chelmsford Odds

For your flat racing fix, Chelmsford is the place to be on Thursday. There is a seven-race card to look forward to in the evening, which kicks off with an exciting Class 6 handicap over 1m.

There are eight runners declared for this contest and there are a couple who come here with decent claims. The one who leads the way is AL BAAHY for Kevin Frost's yard.

The seven-year-old is in the best form of his career, having landed back-to-back successes at Wolverhampton and Lingfield in January. The first was over 1m1/2f and the second was slightly further at 1m2f.

The reduction back down in trip should have no impact on Al Baahy on his return to action, 14 days after his Lingfield triumph. Before his hot streak began, he ran over this distance at Newcastle and posted a respectable third from 10 last month.

Connections will be pleased with where he is at right now, but they are probably as surprised as the rest of us. After all, his win at Wolverhampton was his first since May 2023, which was highlighted by his 11/2 price.

We're not expecting such an attractive price at Chelmsford based on his current hot streak, but I still think the son of Kingman is worth backing to make it a maiden hat-trick on Thursday.

This will be his second appearance at this racecourse, with the first coming all the way back in October 2021. Al Baahy was second from six over 7f. A lot has happened since then, but he is certainly in a much stronger position this time around.
